First, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all female fans (and at least one carefully screened male fan) of major league baseball BACK to the new Diamonds for Women site! We had a fairly good mix of fans of several MLB teams, but the appeal of baseball is such that there are so many knowledgeable women fans from coast to coast, of various age groups (I believe we have had members ranging in age from 14 to 65?), and the more diversity there is of posters sharing observations, thoughts and opinions about the greatest sport ever played, the better the board will be. Tell your friends!

Once again, I do apologize so much for the delay in getting this board up and running. But now that we're finally here...

Just to lay down a few ground rules (keeping the same ones from the old site), I am trusting that all posters here are mature enough to respect other members of the forum, and while healthy debate is strongly encouraged, personal attacks and disrespect will not be tolerated. When the pennant races are on, those of us who live and die with our teams can get a little heated amidst our passion, but we need to exercise a little control! In other words, comments should be kept "between the lines." Our previous community was often a close-knit one where we could express our love for baseball, but our support for each other as individuals.

While I'd like to invite all serious fans of the game to become members, I do recognize that as women, most of us do have our "bunny moments", but I'd prefer that that aspect not "take over" the board. There are some very attractive guys out there playing the game, but there are also many other websites where conversations of players' looks can take place 24/7. I'd prefer that most topics of discussion involve some angle about the men as players, games between teams, and subjects that are in some way related to the sport in either a professional or non-professional level. I realize that sometimes baseball involves politics, so I'm not adverse to having some such discussion about the surrounding issues. I'd just like to exercise any moderator control bequeathed me to a minimum extent, and just let us be ourselves as much as possible, so I'm counting on everyone to be respectful and tolerant of their fellow members. I know that I've personally made some very good friends from several locations around the country from the previous Baseball Chicks site and the previous Diamonds site, and I'm looking forward to becoming acquainted with many more.

Just a few more comments, and I'm through:

1. Please try not to create duplicate threads about the same subject. For example, I would prefer not to see 15 threads on baseball books; try to keep all comments within the same thread. That would be much appreciated so that we can group all our opinions on the same topic in one thread and that way everyone can read and respond to them without searching later where something was posted. Thanks in advance. Familiarize yourself with the subjects that already exist, and group your posts in those threads, and if you are not aware if there is a current thread about a subject, ask me. There is not a "merge thread" option on this board and it creates a lot of extra work for me to transfer comments. In the past I have been more tolerant, but due to bandwidth considerations, I'm sorry, but they will now be deleted.

2. If you feel there is something you absolutely must post that is in no way related to baseball as a game, a business, or in any way related to a team or player, please post it in the Off Topic folder. As mentioned above, I prefer to stay away from political issues, unless they specifically involve baseball.

3. Please be respectful enough to respond to other posters on this board when they post questions to you. Nobody likes to be "ignored." This site is intended to serve as a forum in which experiences and opinions can be shared, but such an exchange requires two-way (or more) conversation. Your responses to others' questions are valued; otherwise, they would not be asking. In particular, please do not ignore the moderators when they make requests Smile , but this also goes for everyone here, as I want all posters to feel as if they are being heard--even if we don't all agree. In particular, I do not want to lose any more posters because they do not feel welcome here.

4. ALL QUOTED MATERIAL MUST HAVE ITS SOURCE CITED.

Although most of you know me, just to introduce myself to any future new posters, I'm Linda, and as indicated by my SN, I'm obviously a Dodger fan (for three decades now). Those who know me will tell you that the intensity of my love for my team knows no ends. I "think blue", bleed blue blood, and I even have blue eyes! But more on that later. For now, I just wanted to make the ground rules clear. Post away!

Thanks, and let's (at least try to) enjoy the rest of the season!

EDIT: Since we now have a co-moderator, we have reviewed and discussed the above, and are both in agreement that the board rules and guidelines remain as originally posted. I've added a line or two here or there to clarify, as necessary.

Please also note that even though you may have posted a comment about a topic on your own blog, or on Facebook, many posters here will not have read that comment. If you have opinions on a particular subject that you've posted elsewhere, please share them in the thread in which we're discussing them (using the copy-and-paste function helps).

Thank you very much for your participation and adherence to these, as established.

This list has been helpful to me since I've been here, Linda, so thank you for posting those links.

This is directed to the other members, we have been discussing some issues having to do with personal information. I realize some people on this board in the past have met each other in person, but since we're starting from scratch in a sense I would like to say let's not assume everyone who posts here wants anything such as their birthday posted since some people are particular about this kind of info. I posted my BD already in the birthday thread, since I don't mind everyone knowing. I do know not all people are like this and some like to be more private. If you haven't posted in the BD thread before, ever, and you would like your BD to be known to others here, please do share that with us. We will celebrate that with you. Unless you know for sure someone wants that known because they have said so, please respect that.

On that note I was wondering what everyone thinks about the Alyssia Milano line of clothing? I recently noticed that she has moved on to the NFL teams.

While I think it is great we have a female representative amongst us, I also think that larger sized clothing by her should also have been included. I can wear a 2X and some 3X sizes depending on the line but these clothes run rather small.

Nevertheless, I like most of the fashions she promotes, but just wish they were in the larger sizes, such as 2X or 3X.

I second this. Not all women are toothpicks. I too fall into the larger sizes. I can sometimes get by with a XL but generally prefer 2X

Hello, all,

I'm requesting any further comments about this topic be addressed in the thread about Baseball Clothing.

I would like to see this thread remain a quick and easy reference point as to what the board guidelines are and requests from the moderators. This will make it easier for new members to read through, without comments on other topics.

Thanks in advance.
