Are you all Olympics junkies? I will stay up all night to watch some sports ...............hockey definitely. I watch as much coverage as I can, and if not home will record it. There are really no Winter Olympics sports I don't like.

I love watching the opening and closing ceremonies to see what everyone is wearing. Some hits and some misses every year. You wonder who designs some of those outfits.

The pagentry, the music, the little kids dancing..........I am a total and complete Olympics junkie and proud of it.

What are your favorite events, and are you looking to keep an eye on any particular athlete?

GO USA!

When I was in college I took ice skating for a PE class. We used to go and use the rink where Brian Botano practiced, so sometimes our class consisted of just watching the Olympic hopefuls.............which was far more educational than us falling all over the ice. Now that I live in Houston, we live near the Galleria, and in there is the rink where little Tara Lipinsky trained. If you go to the mall early in the morning to walk the mall for exercise, you can watch all of the "really good" people practicing.

My husband laughs because some of us go to the Mall to walk in the morning, then afterwards we get a big 'ole fattening muffin at Madeline's and a cappuchino. Good thing we worked off all those calories walking first.

I really don't have a favorite event. I love anything involving speed, so I love the bobsleds, the luge, downhill skiing. I even enjoy watching the guys who sweep the ice for curling.

I just head that too. So sad. They are having a big pow wow now. Seems the course was thought too dangerous by the competitors and there have already been too many accidents while practices were going on this week. I think all of the US women crashed. And then there are those horrible steel beams right next to the luge track. Obviously a woman did NOT design the course or what would be positioned near the track.

I wouldn't be surprised if they scrubbed the Luge events. It would be sad, but I'd sure hate anyone else killed or maimed for a sport.

My brother's friend, that he used to play baseball with, used to date Michelle Kwan. The funny thing is another guy on their team dated Misty May. It turned out to be Matt Treanor, who played on one of their rivals, who married her. A few years ago you could catch Sasha Cohen practicing at a rink in Orange County. I don't remember which one it was because I'm not much of a skater, myself. One of my friends from Tustin used to skate with her. She has even seen her do a quad jump. But for all the stuff you hear about how Socal is a warm weather sports area, there are plenty of great winter sports performers that come from out here. I wonder, is GoofyM's fan going to any of the events. I love Vancouver, what an awesome city.

Sunny,

"My brother's friend, that he used to play baseball with, used to date Michelle Kwan. "

Did you ever get to meet her? Lovely gal. We used to watch her practice in the rink up in Lake Tahoe. Little bitty thing too. She was always SO kind to all the little kids who were in awe watching her. We never got up the nerve to bother her since she always had so many kids who wanted to talk to her. But we never saw her be unkind or walk away from anyone who wanted to speak to her.

I did get to meet Dan Jansen last year at a golf tourney. Handsome guy, and so humble. I apologized to his wife for bothering them and she said it was no bother, that Dan is always amazed people remember who he is, and want to meet him! Generally, I never bother people but he was just standing there, and I so admire him. Everytime I see that commercial that is running now, when he tried to win gold and fell, and it shows him sitting on the ice, it brings tears to my eyes, after all these years. And the voice over says "when he won gold he skated around the track holding his little daughter..............Jane."

It looks so gorgeous on TV. I was there, but with a friend, so I want to take my husband there. They have some great places to have afternoon tea. Very British, and proper!

I know I should root for the USA, but in the women's figure skating tonight Joannie Rochette of Canada skated her short program after losing her mother to a heart attack two days ago. She was magnificent, and broke down after leaving the ice. I hope she wins GOLD! She's already won my heart with her bravery.
