A day with no games gives me a lot of time to catch up on news of the first half of 2019. And now for a milestone with a bit of controversy--the 50th anniversary of the franchise that was originally known as the Montreal Expos, but which relocated to Washington, D.C., 14 years ago.

There are some who say the Expos' history has no business being associated with the Nationals (hmmm....does this sound familiar?!), but last weekend the Nationals did wear old school Montreal Expos jerseys during their series with the Royals at Nationals Park, in honor of their roots. Nice tie-in, as the Royals wore their 1969 jerseys for that series, too.

Nice to see the Expos get some love, thanks for mentioning this. As you know they are our sister team as we both came into the National League in 1969. Ironically though my Padres were supposed to be the team to end up in Washington first! Remember the almost-move that would have happened in 1973-74 except Ray Kroc stepped in to save our franchise. They were supposed to be the Washington Padres if not for that! Then the Expos ended up being that team to move.
