This would be funny if it were not sad.
A squatter was reported to be living in Tony Gwynn's old house in Poway. It went into foreclosure last year and there were rumors a meth lab was being run out of the house! There is a lot more to the story if you read the U-T article - linked here - it is a bit complicated! _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Yes, I think everyone's heard about it now...and I can't believe the Gwynns couldn't keep the house? Love the headline, though. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Usually this thread is kind of light hearted but I read this and felt it should be posted. It is a sad story about a fan - linked here _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

I thought this was fun to watch - about Indians pitcher Oliver Perez and his socks! And for anyone who misses Yasiel and the fun he has with teammates - watch this |

You kind of feel bad for a guy who's called up to make his first major league start and he can't get to the game - that's what happened to Rays rookie Colin Poche at Fenway Park, over the weekend. Poor kid. Here's the article |

One of my favorite videos from a Dodger game this year happened last week when Cody lost his pants sliding into third base in one of the games against the Blue Jays in L.A. Here's the link |

Sunnyblue, I have a friend whose grandchildren insisted on re-watching that one over and over. It was a cute sort of "blooper", Lol.

First, it's hard to imagine getting to age 112 but then to say you've lived all that time without going to a major league game? MLB had an article about a 112 year old White Sox fan who went to his first ever game (on his birthday last week) at Guaranteed Rate Park. It looks like the White Sox did a lot to make it special for him. To just think he lived through the Black Sox scandal and all. Here's the link |

Pretty crazy.
As is the fact that Cardinals coach Mike Maddox had not just one, but two holes-in-one yesterday. An omen for his team? Don't think so, because they lost the game and can be eliminated tonight. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Thought I would post the link about this although Linda and I had been laughing about this privately between ourselves. This just seems so preposterous. For my second post of the day in this thread how about this - women flashing at the World series to Gerrit now permanently banned from baseball - linked here _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Yes, the West lawsuit is bizarre! And the permanent ban, well--as someone I know posted on another forum, let's see how long that lasts until a team that's struggling for attendance needs a "boost" of sorts. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Ladies, have you seen how Steven Brault has released a CD of Broadway hits? Pretty fun thing for a pitcher to do. Congratulations to Steven...something to fall back on if we never get back to baseball. (I say that in jest. We will see the return of baseball!)
This is something Harpo would have appreciated, since he loved Broadway musicals. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game.
