The trade sending Joc is off! We get him back. The trade for Mookie is finalized! That was a weird 4 or 5 days.

Thanks, Sunny. I've gotten so bar behind--again--and the season hasn't even started!

We have traded Manuel Margot to the Rays. Although he has not lived up to what we expected, I will still miss him and his energy on the field. Maybe he will figure it out in the American League.

Yeah, that took place just in time for them to back bags for CBRG. Smile Smile, then hit Interstate 10.

Meanwhile, the "A"s and Jints have made their first cross-bay deal in nearly 30 years. RHP Burch Smith was acquired by Oakland in exchange for cash considerations. The last transaction between the Bay Area teams took place in 1990.

Feels kind of strange posting in this thread since nothing has happened in so long. But our Bison has been signed to a minor league contract by the Rockies. I know you don't usually post about minor league contracts but I would be curious to see if we will see him play at the major league level this year.

Yasiel is no longer looking for a home, since he signed for 1 year with the Braves pending a physical. Here's the link.

Well, who knew the Hot Stove would be burning strong into July, even?

And as for YP's physical, it didn't go as expected. Yasiel has tested positive for COVID, and that nullified the contract he just signed with the Braves.
Confused

Perhaps one of the final "Hot Stove" moves of this extended offseason, the Dodgers signed LHP/reliever Jake McGee yesterday.

From dodgers.com:

Quote:
...McGee provides left-handed bullpen depth after being released last week by the Rockies, who are obligated to pay the bulk of his pro-rated $9 million salary. McGee, 34 next month, came up with the Rays, who were run at the time by current Dodgers president Andrew Friedman.

Oops! I spoke too soon.

While there was concern at one point that Mookie Betts might not ever play a game in a Dodger uniform, we know that he will now, for years to come.

For 12 years. Betts is 27, and the Dodgers today extended him to a contract through 2032, expecting him to play in L.A. for the remainder of his career. When Betts was acquired last winter, it was well known that this was the last year of his contract signed with the Red Sox and there was legitimate doubt that he would ever play in Dodger blue, given that the season was on the brink of cancellation.

That's no longer an issue, and he still has yet to play a regular season game for L.A.

Now, you know I don't care much for long-term contracts and have been critical of teams that signed Manny, Albert and Bryce. I don't like the risks that come with them, no matter how much talent is involved.

But this is our guy, so I'm cautiously saying...this had better pay off!

Still, cheaper by the dozen? Not sure about that one. Confused

I agree it's risky but I think he is better all around than Bryce - and much better than Manny. I guess you could say it's safe now to buy the jersey!
