They will be announced today. I am hoping my Padres' Jayce Tingler wins in the NL! _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Well, I am disappointed along with you that he didn't. Instead, it was Donnie Softball! I'm not saying he didn't do a good job managing the Marlins, but sheeeeesh, here we go again with wondering how it would have been over the course of a full season. I know, I know, I should stop bringing that up, but in my opinion, Tingler should have won, too. This was his first managerial season, and I think the Padres are much more exciting to watch (and granted, I have done more of that than watch the Marlins), but evidently the voters didn't.
Congratulations to Donnie, as well as to Rays skipper Kevin Cash (American League) for winning such honors this year. The two Florida teams are both represented. Here's the link from MLB.com. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. This is probably the one award I was most upset about. What were they thinking anyway - my Padres had the second best record in the league after the Dodgers. I feel it would be safe to say if the Dodgers were not in our division, my boys might have won the West. They sure played their hearts out and with a less experienced manager who should have gotten more notice. I do not agree at all with the voters. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |
