|
|
Ho-ho-ho! I'm here to post my traditional holiday greetings!
Advent began nearly two weeks ago, and as we know, blue is the liturgical color for the season...which means that my church is decorated for baseball's offseason in my favorite hue! Blue is considered to symbolize hope. What baseball fan wouldn't appreciate that?
And what a difference in our caroling this year! For years, I've reposted some of my traditional favorites that associate this time of year with my favorite team--particularly Dodger-based Christmas carols, with customized lyrics and which traditional tunes to match them with).
Deck the Halls with Dodger Blue
Fa-LA-LA-LA-LA, LA-LA-LA-LA
Happy offseason to you
Fa-LA-LA-LA-LA, LA-LA-LA-LA
Don we now our Dodger jerseys,
Fa-LA-LA-LA, LA-LA-LA, LA-LA-LA,
Waiting for the winter workouts,
Fa-LA-LA-LA-LA, LA-LA-LA-LA.
Joy to the World! The Dodgers WON
May everyone rejoice!
Let's all enjoy a Dodger DogĀ®
And cheer our Dodger players
In one synchronized voice,
In one synchronized voice,
In one, in one synchronized voice.
Dodger DogsĀ® roasting on an open fire,
Scully waxing on the mic,
Chavez Ravine, all lit up in blue,
O baseball fan, what's not to like?
Hilda's bells, Hilda's bells
Jingle all the way,
Cowbells cheer the Dodgers on
From Brooklyn to L.A.!
O Ballpark Dear, Chavez Ravine
We miss your sights so clear,
But COVID kept us far from you
All season long this year.
Feliz Azul Navidad! Peace, love and Dodger Blue! _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. If the Yankees are the most successful team in baseball history, the Dodgers are the most essential. Their legacy is unique."

I love it. All those years we've been waiting to update those song lyrics
Don't forget to mention the Dodgers' Holiday Special at Dodger Stadium! We probably aren't going to get up to see it this year but I've heard many people say how well done that is. Oh, I miss our "ballpark dear Chavez Ravine" very much too. I hope we can get back to see it in 2021. For more than just Fan Fest! |

Yes, me, too! And thinking back to one year ago at this time, I can't believe what's transpired since then. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Happy holidays to my ladies in blue. Petco Park is hosting something a little different this year, not just the winter playland, but the Holiday Market and Trail which includes a lot more for adults to do. Of course it is all socially distanced, too. It runs every night through the 23rd. Not sure if we will go yet but probably will skip it this year as I have been super careful about not getting out & about, and especially staying in at night. Event link from padres.com
I am thinking I may have to make up some of my own Padres related carols. Any ideas? _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

You guys suck at coming up with caroling ideas.
Christmas was like Thanksgiving for us, very quiet, and I assume the same for others. It will be different next year. We made the sacrifices that are necessary and I have no regrets. Raul got me a nice Tatis jersey but I have no place other than home to wear it. We have become real homebodies! _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Good to hear. My Christmas was quiet, too. I've received a few nice Dodger-related gifts in addition to the hordes of mail order items I gifted myself. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. DB should have been thinking of Christmas carols. She is the one who's good with that stuff!
Christmas of 2020 will never be forgotten because of how toned down everything was. By the way, we took a drive to Palomar Mountain yesterday. Just for scenic purposes. Only got out of the car once to throw snowballs at each other. lol |
