The iconic Hank Aaron has passed away at age 86. The former major league home run king died in his sleep at home in Atlanta, it was announced this morning.

May he rest in peace.

R.I.P. to the real home run king. I wish he never had to give up that title.

I am grateful I lived in a baseball era with so many all time greats of the game and no questions about PEDs. It must have been such a heavy weight lifted from his back once the record was broken. Thank you Mr. Aaron & may you rest in peace.

We listened to Vin's call of #715 again on Youtube about how great a moment it was and describing how much he had to put up with so much and how relieved he must have been it was over. I've heard it a bunch of times but it's always worth hearing again. Here is the link.

I've been listening to it, too. I still get goosebumps. What a wonderful moment and superb storyteller. In fact, it's one of the earliest truly great moments I ever heard Vin call--I was just starting to get into the Dodgers more in the early '70s, and at that time, Sandy's perfect game tape was not widely in circulation.

I've enjoyed reading about so many facets of Aaron's life over the last several days. What a player, what a man.
