What do you think of this - Tony La Russa is going back to manage the White Sox where he started his managerial career! I was pretty surprised. I think he wanted to lay low for awhile but it's been almost 10 years since he left on field managing. I wonder how well he can relate to the players now. |

And Alex Cora is back with the Red Sox, as well!
It's crazy, to me, that both managers implicated in cheating scandals can be re-hired within one year of their dismissals! _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Perry Minasian has been hired as the Angels' new general manager on a four-year contract. I don't know too much about him, but I hope he's able to get them back on track.
Have you heard about Kim Ng? It was announced today that she's the new GM for the Marlins. It's pretty nice to see her finally get a top job. |

I'm very happy for her! You would have to go back 15 years in this forum to find the posts I made about hearing her speak in 2005!
I think I'll start a new thread noting the significance of this barrier breaker! _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. I was surprised to see a familiar old name when Chris Young was named the Rangers' GM. Yes, I did see that last weekend. But guess what--I thought at first it was "the other" Chris Young! It was probably because of the focus this year on diversity and blacks in management positions in sports. Either way, I'm sure the other one will do fine! _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Thanks for covering me there, Sunny. I see where the Padres have lost one to the Mets.
Tony Tarasco has been hired as their new first base coach.
The above-linked article notes that "Tarasco replaces Tony DeFrancesco, whom the Mets reassigned to another position in the organization." _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Yes, farewell to Tony and meanwhile speaking of the Mets, they have fired their GM! - Jared Porter. It was for past inappropriate behavior when he worked for the Cubs. I have to say I am shocked since it did not happen on their watch. Reading what happened though, was pretty disgusting. Yes, beyond just inappropriate. However, it does make me wonder at what point in time does the line get drawn? In no way would I suggest he remain if he were still with the Cubs. But it appears he had already apologized earlier. It's just a little confusing to me. I do understand teams wanting to maintain integrity, and I wish some would do more in that regard. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. This is curious--the Mets fired hitting performance coordinator Ryan Ellis following sexual harassment charges by several female Mets employees dating back to 2018. I only say "curious" because Ellis was dismissed rather quietly compared to the well-publicized firing of their GM Jared Porter.
Of course, the position doesn't carry quite as much weight, so maybe it's not that curious after all. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Unreported (by me) until now, the Mariners' GM resigned earlier this week.
