None yet, but this one gets it started.

Robinson Cano is now a Padre! They have signed the veteran for bench depth at major league minimum - article from padres.com

I saw where the Mariners have added outfielder Justin Upton for 1 year. Here's the link.

I see Robinson Cano's time with the Padres was brief--he's been released.

It was brief because he was given opportunity and was not the least bit impressive. He declined a minor league assignment so forced the team to release him.

Evidently I failed to post this note last week, that a grandson of Kearny Mesa has now become a Jint. That's right, catcher Austin Wynns was traded from the Phillies in exchange for LHP Michael Plassmeyer and cash considerations. This became glaringly noticeable as Wynns had a decent weekend against the Dodgers in S.F. and a few "reminders" from family members about his origins.
Sad

Infielder Jonathan Villar was released by the Cubs and added by the Angels.

From the Angels' home page:

Quote:
INF Jonathan Villar signed to MLB deal

Villar was officially signed by the Angels on Saturday after being released by the Cubs. The 10-year veteran struggled with Chicago, batting .222/.271/.327 with two homers, six stolen bases and 15 RBIs in 46 games. But he fared better with the Mets last year, hitting .249/.322/.416 with 18 homers, 14 stolen bases and 42 RBIs in 142 games. Interim manager Phil Nevin said he sees Villar getting regular playing time at third base in the absence of Anthony Rendon. Villar, 31, has experience at shortstop, second and third and was mostly playing second and third with the Cubs.

The very versatile Tyler Wade, Angels infielder & outfielder, and Murrieta Valley alum, has been traded back to the Yankees for a PTBNL or cash considerations. Here's the link.

Is anyone else getting as sick as I am about hearing where Juan Soto will end up after the trade deadline?

It's true he is a great talent, but do the Dodgers really need him - then again maybe the Padres will pick him up and make their team deeper? I'm just tired of every time I get on line most of the talk is around that. And besides do either team need to give up their farm for him? I don't want our team to do it. Who wouldn't relish having him but it does come at a high cost.

The other is Shohei Ohtani, but I doubt the Angels would be dumb enough to give him up, even if they got a lot back in return. Great 2 way players don't come around often.

Yes about both.

However, a few transactions have been made--like, for example, the Diamondbacks designated Dallas Keuchel for assignment. He may be through.

Andrew Benitendi is now a Yankee, and the Mets have traded for Tyler Naquin.

The Dodgers sent utility player Zach McKinstry to the Cubs. He has proven his worth to our team but of course, we do need pitching and so will receive RH reliever Chris Martin in exchange. Martin also pitched for the Braves last year when they won it all. His numbers don't look so great this year but let's hope Mark Prior & Co. help him figure things out like they have with others.

Here's the link.

The Brewers have traded RH reliever Josh Hader to my Padres for 4 players - RHP Taylor Rogers, RHP Dinelson Lamet, LHP prospect Robert Gasser (No. 7 prospect) and OFer Esteury Ruiz (No. 28 prospect) - article from mlb.com

Though it also says the deal has not been finalized I do wonder why it gets posted on mlb.com beforehand.

Also the Braves DFAed Robinson CanĂ³ and got a utility infielder from the Nationals, Ehire Adrianza, traded outfielder Trey Harris - article from CBS Sports

You guys really didn't give up too much of substance, either.

Frankie Montas to the Yankees...

And finally - Juan Soto to the Padres! Very Happy We get Josh Bell to play 1B, too.

So long and thanks for the memories, SS C.J. Abrams, LHP MacKenzie Gore, OF Robert Hassell III, OF James Wood, RHP Jarlin Susana. They are off to D.C.!

And we will see what happens to Eric Hosmer. He was supposed to be part of the package but he waived his no-trade clause.

Article from mlb.com

Some pretty good moves there! We welcome the challenge. Going to be a big series coming up at Dodger Stadium this weekend!

Angels have been dealing too, although of course not their big names. But they did send Noah Syndergaard to the Phillies. And now Mickey is an Angel, but he's going to have to produce, so I hope they're going to work with him.
