Nate Colbert has passed away! He played first base and outfield and was an original San Diego Padre from 1969-1974. He was a 3 time All Star and is still the Padres all time home run leader.
Colbert was 76 years old. Rest in peace.

My favorite early Padre. My dad's favorite. Their first real power guy. May he rest in peace.

Rest in peace to original New York Met Frank Thomas (who also appears in the "Name Game" thread)  who passed away at age 93 on January 16 in his native Pittsburgh. The infielder also spent the first eight years of his 16-year career with the Pirates.

My gosh I sure remember him so well from those world championship teams. Such a good player for a stacked team! He might have been overlooked for some of the bigger stars on that team but I really admired him. Remember we did not get to see AL players much back in those days, fewer TV games and no interleague play so I would only see them when they played the Angels.
