The Cardinals are in town at Petco Park starting tonight after my Padres were swept in Milwaukee over the weekend. Crying or Very sad

I do feel badly for Bob Melvin--he's a good baseball guy, but it seems like he will likely take the fall for this season. Sad

After winning last night behind Blake Snell, my Padres lost tonight to the Cardinals, 6-5 in 10 innings. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Jake Cronenworth has a fractured right wrist from the Brewers series, I did not post about that before. Yu has elbow inflammation. So 2 more to add to the IL. Not that they were making any progress when those guys were healthy.

Maybe the obituary should have been written earlier but you can hardly do that even if the writing is on the wall. Tom Krasovic wrote about though - link from Union Tribune - too many losing seasons under A.J. Sad

Well - who knew it could happen! We went to a game at Petco Park and the Padres won! Lol. The season may have slipped away but what a nice night we enjoyed, cool and breezy, a 7-4 Pads win over the Water Hoarders, El Nino & Juan Soto both homering, and a feeling that we were seeing what could have been if only they played like this more consistently. I was so glad I was not at the game on Thursday! When they opened the 4 game series, they lost, 7-2 and looked like the Bad News Bears! Errors and lackluster play all around.

Time to just enjoy what we have left of the season, and hope that we see better results in this last month than we have in earlier months. Maybe with some of the pressure off that will help them relax. I know that sounds like a pathetic excuse, but, this is all true.

My gosh, they not only beat the Battery Chuckers but they did that 3 games in a row! Surprised I am shocked but the big test will be tonight when we find out if they can win 4 in a row for the first time this year! But with the Phillies here it will be a challenge anyway! I am determined to enjoy the last month of the season no matter what!

Just to pick up where I left off, of course they did not win 4 in a row. It seems almost laughable how they never get over that hump! They lost in the first game to the Phillies, 9-7, so of course you knew they would have a big win the next day - 8-0. Playing the rubber game this afternoon.

They might be the most Jeckyll & Hyde team ever for such a team full of big names.

They lost a series to the Astros in Houston this weekend - looked horrible in the series finale. Snellzilla's win in the opener was the only impressive game. And now to play the last 3 games my boys have scheduled with the Dodgers this year. It has been a painful process getting this far and the boys are eliminated from the division race (Lol - they have been since like June) - and are barely alive in the wild card although the math is catching up with them fast. It might be the series in which they have to look ahead to next season.

On a good note Jurickson Profar is happy to be back for some reason Wink and I enjoyed watching him as a Padre again this weekend.

Always the up and down team - my Padres finally won a series against the Dodgers this year. Better to do it in their last chance of the season, because they will not have one in October this time. Sad

As usual they rallied to win late in the first game, lost big in the second game, and then got a great game from Blake Snell in the rubber game.

The boys are playing in Norcal this weekend, maybe the last time ever in Oakland? There will surely be a lot of talk about that during the broadcast.

I guess it takes a series in Oakland to get this team going, Lol! It took until Sept. 17 but this is the first time all year my Padres have won 4 games in a row. If you had said that back at the beginning of the year I would not have believed it. Juan Soto had a super game today, with 2 HRs including a grand slam, my boys won, 10-1, and are returning home for their last stand at Petco Park tomorrow night, against the Rockies. This weekend was also Bob Melvin's return to the Coliseum and I figure it must have been sad for him in some ways.

As hard as it has been for them to get some kind of winning streak going all year long, I did not know until today my boys were the only MLB team not to win 4 in a row this season. Now they can put that goal behind them. But it was too little too late - article from padres.com

Well how about that! My boys have won 6 in a row. Too bad it took them until the last 2 weeks of the season to get anything going like this! Blake Snell continued his string of great starts with 7 no hit innings last night.

And I see it's now 7 games in a row! Good run for your boys.

Now 8 in a row! Cardinals are in town for the weekend, last night it was Manny with his 2 HRs that got us the win!

Well, the streak ended but they started a new one Sunday, and my boys took the series from the Cardinals. So they have won 9 of their last 10. Our final home game was yesterday, and it was a beautiful one - not just the perfect weather but my Padres winning, 12-2, the last feelings being mixed - what could have been this year, but happy for at least going out on a high note. There are still 6 more games on the road - 3 in S.F. and then finishing in Chicago to play the White Sox. The goal can be to finish at least .500, right now both the Battery Chuckers and our boys are tied at 77-79, and as we have seen their team has really struggled this month. So the series in Norcal will be very important if nothing else just for pride and who will finish in 4th place, Lol. These were not the things I was planning to be posting about in September when this season got started. But this is where we are.

Interesting refusal by Josh Hader! Question
