Congratulations to El Niño! He hit his 100th career home run in yesterday's Padres win over the Rockies at Coors Field. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Wow - Michael Lorenzen made his home first start for the Phillies and pitched a no hitter against the Nationals! What a way to make a first impression. That's our Titan! Congratulations! |

I know, congratulations to Lorenzen! Did you know four pitchers out of Fullerton Union High have pitched no-hitters in the major leagues? Starting with Walter "Big Train" Johnson...that fact simply blows my mind. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. I thought I answered this one already but yes! I love that fact. Another OC bragging right.
Funny story about Pete Alonso throwing a milestone ball to the crowd. Cardinals Mason Winn had his first major league hit but they had to go to extremes to find out which fan got it, and returned the ball to him. |

Oops, I almost forgot to post about Michael Busch's first major league home run in Cleveland yesterday!

Ronald Acuna Jr. became baseball's first-ever 30/60 man last night, with (ahem) a grand slam in the Braves' win over the Dodgers. I forgot to post this earlier. Padres manager Bob Melvin got his 1500th career win a couple of days ago.
And last night Pedro Avila got his first Major League win! _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Even as a Dodger fan I have to tip my cap to the Braves superstar Ronald Acuña Jr.
He is the first 40-70 player in MLB history! That's some feat, so big congratulations. Here's the link. |
