See the toolbar at the top with the B (bold), italics, etc. line? That's where you find "quote." Click that first, then copy the text you want to quote and paste it in. Then click "quote" again to unquote it.

It will look like this on your screen:

You can also type or paste what you want quoted, highlight it, and then click the "quote" button in the toolbar above the test box.

I also dislike the FAQ that is part of the software. It seems to me that it doesn't explain itself overly well and can seem complicated to people who aren't internet saavy.
