Tony LaRussa's neighbor just down the road from his home in Alamo, CA, is Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, whom everyone knows as the hero of the Hudson River landing of U.S. Airways Flight 1549 a couple of weeks back. (I figured that proximity out by talking to one of my high school friends who lives in Danville, and is four miles away from LaRussa in the next town over.)
Sullenberger, along with his crew, will be honored during pre-game festivities of today's Super Bowl game.
But, here's some fun stuff. A columnist for the Contra Costa Times made some suggestions drawing on Sully's strengths and nominated him for a few positions in the world of sports. Gotta love some of these. 
Just a couple of examples:
