Scary! White Sox pitcher Danny Farquhar suffered a brain hemorrhage during the sixth inning of Friday night's White Sox loss to the Astros at Guaranteed Rate Field.
From MLB.com:
Quote: | Farquhar collapsed in the White Sox dugout after facing four batters, and the additional overnight testing at Rush University Medical Center revealed that a ruptured aneurysm caused the brain bleed, according to the White Sox. Farquhar is currently stable but in critical condition in the neurosurgical ICU unit and continues to receive treatment and close monitoring by Dr. Demetrius Lopes and the neurosurgical team. |
Best wishes for a full recovery! _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. If the Yankees are the most successful team in baseball history, the Dodgers are the most essential. Their legacy is unique."

My gosh, I could barely believe it when I heard that. All the best to him. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

I know he is a lightning rod and many people do not like him, but our long time broadcaster Ted Leitner is undergoing treatment for kidney cancer. I would like to wish him all the best and a smooth recovery. Hang in there, Teddy!

Yes, Uncle Teddy can be brash, overly opinionated, and pompous, but I wish him well, too. He's part of Padres lore. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. A little late on this one, but best wishes to Jints first baseman Brandon Belt, who recently underwent an emergency appendectomy. He'll be back with the team just in time for their series in L.A. this weekend. (See...now who says I can't be nice to Battery Chuckers?) _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Well that did not take long! Ted Leitner is now cancer free - article linked here

Well, it happened again...K.J. has been hospitalized for irregular heartbeat issues. Did that happen a couple of years back, it seems? That sure must be scary for him, and for his teammates. Best wishes. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Yes it did. I think it was 2012. I wish Kenley a great recovery, but don't rush if he needs more time. No game is worth risking his health. |

And it gets worse. Now, Brian Dozier has heart issues, too. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. If the Yankees are the most successful team in baseball history, the Dodgers are the most essential. Their legacy is unique."

I was just getting ready to post a couple of updates in this thread when I found out that White Sox manager Rick Renteria was hospitalized in Minneapolis after feeling light-headed, and has undergone testing. Best wishes to him.
Anyway, KJ has been given a clean bill of health and is being reactivated--at sea level, thankfully. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Wil Myers had a nasty accident in batting practice a couple of nights ago when a ball hit his face when the Padres were still in Colorado. He got one stitch and has been dealing with headaches even up to last night when he had his first start since the bad hop. No concussion, good thing. Best wishes to Wil - article from padres.com _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale was hospitalized with a stomach virus and did not travel to Houston with his teammates. Status on hold...best wishes for his recovery. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. So...I posted the update on Sale before the World Series, in the Strange Injuries thread. He stayed healthy long enough to play in his first World Series and actually win a ring. Nothing personal, but I wish he had just participated instead.
Anyway, now that the postseason is over and done with, it's been announced that KJ will undergo heart surgery soon. Of course, we wish him well for the sake of his health and his family, and last with the hopes that he'll return to the Dodgers in good condition and ready to contribute again.
And I don't want to make light of it in any way, given that this is a very serious issue.
But I can't help but wonder who will perform surgery on all those broken blue hearts out there. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. I did not realize this until recently but last month Padres pitcher Jacob Nix underwent hernia surgery, too. Best wishes to him, too!

I do not remember hearing about this before but Yankees pitcher C C Sabathia had heart surgery in December and has just been cleared to join the other pitchers and catchers reporting to camp next month. I thought you Dodger ladies would like to know about this since KJ had such a heart scare too. I wish them both a good recovery. K.J. actually underwent two heart surgeries this offseason, so I'm hoping he's back in form this year--and more important that he's healthy enough to enjoy life with his beautiful family.
On a sadder note, Hall of Famer Frank Robinson has been placed in hospice care. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game.
