That must be very painful for them to have to address this so soon after the surgery. He has been a great role model so I am sorry to hear this, but have no right to judge what happens without knowing anything more. Best wishes to Deidre on her recovery.

The Red Sox have been hit hard. Alex Cora tested positive for COVID.

COVID is going wild again! Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright has tested positive - here's the link. Also the Battery Chuckers had 4 players on the COVID list and I didn't know that until their outfielder Mike Yastrzemski just came back from it during their series in L.A. this week. Brandon Belt, first baseman, and relievers Dominic Leone and Zack Littell were the others. Link is here.

Then I just found out that the Twins manager, Rocco Baldelli, is out with COVID and so are pitcher Dylan Bundy and Luis Arraez - here's the link.

Good round-up, Sunny, but you missed this--Kike has been placed on the COVID list, too! And if that rings a bell, it's because he had COVID last August, too...and this IL stint will be for a significant amount of time. Red Sox teammate Christian Arroyo is also listed as a "close contact" so is also in COVID protocol, per this report.

And this article mentions Boston pitcher Rich Hill on the COVID list, as well.

Get well, all.

I saw Kike was back in the Red Sox lineup today. He must have had a short recovery period but you mentioned a "significant amount of time."

That's really weird! Several reports I read made it sound like it was going to be awhile.

Umpire Ron Kulpa took a foul ball to the mask during the White Sox-Red Sox game at Fenway Park today, causing his exit in the fourth inning.

It sounds quite painful!

Meanwhile our manager Bob Melvin is away from the team with a gastrointestinal issue. Hope he recovers well and is back soon!

We know more about Melvin now - he is undergoing prostate surgery. Best wishes for healing!

Thank you, our skip is expected to return to the dugout sometime during the series with the Battery Chuckers this coming week.

COVID happens too damn fast for me to keep up with in this thread! The Guardians were hit with it most recently.

I have to post this because even though he is no longer a Padre and he sure has struggled over the last couple of years, Twins pitcher Chris Paddack is having his second TJ surgery. It has to be hard to have all these setbacks after such a promising start to his career, so I do feel for him, although it was right for the Padres to part ways with him.

I probably should have mentioned it earlier, but several members of the Dodgers broadcast team stayed home on this road trip due to an outbreak of COVID. Evidently they're mild cases, given all were vaccinated.

Kevin Pillar underwent surgery this week.

Several Padres personnel are under COVID protocol, including manager Bob Melvin.

Following the Dodgers' weekend series against the Braves, it was announced that KJ is going on the IL. The Braves' closer is suffering from an irregular heartbeat again.

Best wishes to him.

Yes all the best to him, they have to manage him carefully but at least the Braves don't travel to Coors Field 3 times every year.

Padres left fielder Jurickson Profar suffered a concussion during a collision with shortstop C.J. Abrams in last night's Padres-Jints game at Petco Park. Profar was hospitalized, but is now at home resting. It looked pretty bad watching the action!

Well, I know this one has to have shaken Cathy up a bit. It sure did my mom (JP is one of her favorite Padres!).

Get well soon to a good guy!

I'm sure everyone knows by now about Mike Trout's back condition but I wonder how it will affect his career over time. The article from their home page mentions the following,

Quote:
On a much larger scale, however, (Mike) Frostad revealed what could be much more troubling news. Trout has a rare condition in his back -- costovertebral dysfunction at T5 -- that he will likely have to manage for the
rest of his playing days.

Frostad is the Angels' head trainer.

Here's the link.

For being such a great generational player, and a good guy as well - I wish him the best.

Always a fan of Dusty; never mind that cheating team. Smile

Can we hear it now for David Vassegh, who was injured during the slide in Milwaukee yesterday? What a gamer.

Oh no! I did hear about that and saw the video clip! Best wishes to him. I know you Dodger ladies appreciate him.

My Padres' Blake Snell was cleared to pitch on Friday night even though his car was hit by a suspected drunk driver after Thursday's game. Snell was cited for a traffic violation. He appeared to be fine and took the mound the following night.

Best wishes to Braves' Jackson Stephens. He was hit in the head by a line drive over the weekend and is now on the concussion list.

I did see that - glad he will be OK.

White Sox manager Tony La Russa is undergoing medical testing and had to miss last night's game. Best wishes.
