I thought there would probably be more in the book about Dodger Stadium seeing as it's the 50th anniversary. I am glad the book encompasses both coasts. Perhaps if there hadn't been an Ebbets Field and Brooklyn Dodgers there wouldn't have been the LA Dodgers and Dodger Stadium.

I am more embarrassed that I can't keep DB's family members straight and when I thought Kerry was Linda's niece I did think she was probably in her 20s (so DB's mom wouldn't have been too mad at me Laughing

)

But the Dodgers have actually played fewer years in Dodger Stadium than they have out of it, and the book covers all their history.

Holy cow you girls have been busy!!!! Sorry I missed this thread. I sometimes forget to look at the general discussion. I enjoyed hearing about everyones holidays. Dave and I are getting back into exercise(well I was until my tailbone injury) but I still have lost 12lbs since the new year.

My Christmas was a little different this year because since I haven't been a working girl for years I decided to work the holidays to make a little Christmas money. We usually go downtown and over to Our Lady of the Snows in Illinois to look at decorations but did neither this year. My daughter who lives in OKC missed Christmas Eve with the family because of illness but made it for Christmas day feeling ill. It was a very low key Christmas. They only baseball thing going on for me was a good a few WS trinkets and gave a few as presents. We even missed all the holiday parades. Maybe next year between Christmas and New Year's I need to make a trip to SoCal. Being a camper myself I would be game for that!

I remember her talking about Erin who I knew was her sister but other names aside from her nephew and Garrett I did not recognize. For some reason I thought Kerry was her niece and obviously the age slipped by me.

Stlred - I also am trying to lose some weight - around 10 pounds but I am not having much luck. Steve and I are doing Weight Watchers at home. He is doing well losing weight but I am staying about the same. I use up too many of my extra points.

NO seriously DB, Kerry is very inspiring to me and you can let her know that. That was a marvelous picture included in the letter too. It's nice to share family accomplishments and reading the letter I thought if I was on Facebook (which I am not) it would have been nice to read the comments since she got so many "likes."

To stlred, gee whiz I saw about your fall in the other thread! It happened a few wks. ago but you're just now posting about it? I did wonder where you were for awhile. Hope you are not in pain much longer.

I am getting back to exercise too, well I never left it much but I have less time for it when I'm working longer days due to holiday orders. That was for about a month. Then I got back to hiking a lot. I go down to the beach sometimes, but we have a lot of canyons and mountains that are good hiking spots within a few miles of the coast.

Linda - my husband and son were very impressed with Kerry, too. Do you think she'll go back? Raul said to pass along that she is very pretty too. Not that you all didn't know that. Lol

Excellent food, good drinks, poor service. As I posted on Facebook last week, if you're going to seat a large party on your patio outdoors on a January night, please be sure the heaters are on first. They were slow to light them, slow to bring everything else, too.

I am not sure what you think they did that helped others? I was being facetious in saying that, well sort of - it's really kind of by accident as they didn't really have anything to do with the award being won. They did work hard, but that was mainly to show off. lol

We have always raised a glass to toast Dad, on their birthday. This year, we raised two, to toast Bill as well.

That made me feel a little sentimental, too. I think you should write an article on her like you did about your grandma. I loved the one you wrote about Justin - thank you for sending me to that one.

As for stlred I do hope to see her back and posting soon too.

I would like it if you'd write an article about her also DB. It's a good way to get to know your family members better (and keep track of them).

I can relate to Justin missing his grandpa - his first birthday without him. The "firsts" are always very difficult. I think it's great that you always toast to your dad and now to Bill also.

I can see why you would think that because I respond so haphazardly and not always when posts come up Sad

I loved the article about your grandmother and I would like to keep better track of what is going on with friends family members on here. I am very much interested in the ties that bind us to our families. How those who have gone before us influenced our lives even though we never met them, and how those we loved live on in us and our family members. The connections and memories that keep them living on though not in physical form. Things like that mean even more to me having lost mom. I look for ways I can help her memory live on in my grandson who was fortunate enough to be close to my mom and my grand-daughter who won't remember mom bouncing her on her knee and telling her nursery rhymes.

Our family here and now matters so much...to share in their joys and sorrows and to be there for each other.

I can't always keep family members straight (as you know Exclamation

) but I do care Smile

Are we all super-full these days? I have had enough dumplings to last until next year. Between all the baseball both live seeing games in person, and on TV, and parties in between I need a break before the next round. We went to Sycuan and did pretty well there, but they had all the festivities going on too. Time for me to rest up, I'm not sure I can keep up with the rest of you. Lol Laughing
