Something else I haven't gotten around to posting over the last few weeks, the "rebirth" of Tim Tebow, former NFL quarterback, attempting to transition into baseball in the Mets organization.
But I'm also reminded of many other "two-way" players who've played both sports, such as Bo Jackson in the '80s, Deion Sanders in the '90s, and others who didn't make it to "the show" in baseball but were Hall of Fame football players (John Elway, for example).
In recent years, Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson come to mind. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. If the Yankees are the most successful team in baseball history, the Dodgers are the most essential. Their legacy is unique."

I do admit to not really caring one way or another about that. He has been away from baseball for a long time but if he can make it then more power to him. He seems like a nice enough guy but just could not make it in the NFL. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Well, not only is Tim Tebow in Mets camp, but Russell Wilson is in Yankees camp! _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Has anyone been following Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray, who played QB for Oklahoma, and what his decision will be between playing pro football and baseball? I had read a couple of months ago he intended to play baseball in the Athletics organization which drafted him last year as an outfielder. It would be hard to say now though. They are waiting to see if he will be ready for spring training this year or will go up for the NFL draft in April. Article from S.F. The latest on this is that Murray has declared for the NFL draft! _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. If the Yankees are the most successful team in baseball history, the Dodgers are the most essential. Their legacy is unique."

Just heard about that this morning. But on the other hand Russell Wilson plans to join the Yankees in camp this year. Can't argue with this. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. If the Yankees are the most successful team in baseball history, the Dodgers are the most essential. Their legacy is unique."

Here is more on the Murray situation, they expect him to report to camp for Oakland next month, in Arizona. After watching Tom Brady win yet another Super Bowl yesterday, I remembered that at one time he had a promising future in baseball (and yes, we'll never forget his alma mater--San Mateo Serra!). _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. I guess we should rename this one "diamond to grid." Kyler Murray committed to the NFL. Another example of a player who excelled in both sports is K.C. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who was selected by the Tigers as a pitcher in the 2014 first-year player draft. Mahomes will play in Super Bowl LIV in two weeks. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Here's an update to the last post of this thread, which was from last January:
Patrick Mahomes did indeed quarterback the Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory, and was named MVP of that Super Bowl, to boot--but he recently diversified his K.C. sports experience, becoming part-owner of the Royals. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Mets property and former NFL QB Tim Tebow is officially retiring from baseball.
He hung in there a lot longer than I expected. But it ended as I, and most people, expected it would. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game.
