Alright, I've talked enough about Cody for the last couple of months.

But on the other side of the country, a Californian is making it happen for the Yankees, with rookie Aaron Judge hitting 30 home runs before the All-Star break. There'll be plenty of young talent in the Home Run Derby, for sure, but in this case, the kid deserved his own thread for what he's accomplished in games that count.

It is almost like as if Bobby's Son won the HR Derby. Smile I think you were posting this in anticipation of it! Lol

I like him, but I am getting tired of the bad jokes like "all rise" etc.

Good luck to him even if he is a Yankee. He is a good kid from the Valley and having quite the rookie season for sure.

While I was out of town, Nick Canepa tried to put things into perspective with this column in the Union-Tribune.

They're getting entirely too cliched--in this case, "the jury is out". It was cute until overdone...which was about one month into the season. "Judge restores order", "Judge lays down the law", "the verdict is in", etc.

It's hard for a rookie who had the kind of first half of the season that Aaron had, to not slump a bit in the second half. Pitchers adjust; teams figure them out. (Remember Joc in 2015? Well...)

In this article, SI analyzes the August fade. I did take note of this mention:

Quote:
He's also made the wrong kind of history, striking out in 37 consecutive games, the most ever by a position player.

Ever? That's saying a lot.

What's the verdict? Read it yourself. Laughing Laughing

And Aaron Judge now has 40 home runs.

Well, Aaron has now hit his 50th home run and broken Big Mac's all-time home run record for a rookie. Congratulations to him.

Does this mean Fresno State > USC? Lol

Yes congratulations to Judge.

LOL Laughing

Judge also became the third player in MLB history, age 25 or under, to record at least 125 runs and 125 walks in a season. The other two names put him in some mighty fine company--Babe Ruth and Ted Williams.

So there's a bit of Cali history, too, even after USC/Fresno State. Smile
