This is an annual thread to track and celebrate individual feats (major personal milestones), major league records, or unique team accomplishments around MLB, this time during the 2019 season.

As a rule I have not in past years included individuals who set team records only, in this thread, unless it was something of monumental proportions. Traditionally, they've been included in that team's particular thread, if one exists.

So, please provide a link whenever possible. Thanks!

I was glad to see this thread started already because I am proud to make the first post of the season! Fernando Tatis Jr. got his first major league hit (he had 2 overall in the opening game), and it could not have been more impressive since it came off MadBum - a single in the second inning, in yesterday's Padres win over the Battery Chuckers at Petco Park. Article from padres.com

Congratulations & I hope this is the start of a super career!

Congratulations to Matt Carpenter, who notched his 1000th career hit against the Brewers.

Yes! It has been electric to see FTJ getting all his historic "firsts" - congratulations to our kid! Of course he gave the home run ball to his famous dad!

Congratulations to Ketel Marte, who hit his first career grand slam; and Jorge Polanco, who recorded the first cycle of the 2019 season!

Wil Myers hit his 100th career home run in the Padres' loss last night at Petco Park. It was hit in the 9th inning off Rockies reliever Scott Oberg and was quite
a blast! - article from padres.com

Congratulations to Wil!

Padres RHP Chris Paddack got his first win yesterday over the Mariners at Petco Park - going 7, retiring 19 in a row and the Padres won 1-0. Better yet he beat Felix Hernandez! He may just be our ace in waiting but it was exciting watching him in spring training, and now doing the same thing during the regular season. Congratulations Chris!

And last night, in Vlad Jr.'s major league debut, he singled for his first career hit. Congratulations!

That was good to see he made his debut at home and got the first hit at home. Those fans are ready for someone exciting! I flipped back and forth because our game was an early (East Coast) start too. Congratulations Vladdy Jr.!

Wow! Milestones all around last night but Robinson Cano's 2500th hit and Mike Fiers' no hitter top them!

Also, Angels RHP and hometown boy Griffin Canning has notched his first major league win, a 5-2 victory over the Tigers at Comerica Park.

Congratulations!

I got backed up here, too. As you know Ty France was called up a couple of weeks ago. He got his first major league hit on April 26, a pinch hit single to the 5.5 hole!, and his first major league home run this week (May 7) off the Mets at Petco Park. Congratulations Ty, you have worked hard to get where you are, and we are proud of you.

How about Cole Irvin! The Servite alum (drafted out of Oregon in 2016) made his major league debut for the Phillies yesterday and won...

Congratulations!

LOL! Thanks.

Dodgers rookie catcher Will Smith hit his first major league home run on Saturday at Dodger Stadium--a walk-off solo shot, off Phillies reliever Hector Neris--to win the game for the Dodgers, 4-3.

Of course, some sports sites referenced him as hitting it "all the way to Bel-Air."

Congratulations to the kid!

Kyle Garlick's first major league hit came in Saturday's win over the Jints, a pinch-hit double in the sixth inning.

Congratulations to Shohei! The Angels' DH hit for the cycle in last night's 5-3 win over the Rays at Tropicana Field, becoming the first Japanese-born player to do so in MLB. It was the eighth cycle in Angels franchise history.

From MLB.com:

Quote:
Ohtani homered in the first inning, his eighth round-tripper of the year. The three-run shot got the Halos on the board and set the tone for a wild game to come. The 24-year-old star followed that up with a third-inning double.

Then, the power went out in the bottom of the fourth. Not Ohtani’s, of course, but a fire at a substation in St. Petersburg cut off power to the entire downtown area -- which included Tropicana Field -- for 36 minutes. When all the lights finally flickered full again, Ohtani got the hardest part of his feat out of the way with a picture-perfect triple into the right-field corner.

It was Ohtani’s third career triple and first of the season, and it was made even better when Albert Pujols hit a home run...behind him to extend the Angels’ lead to 5-0 in the fifth.

...By the time Ohtani strode to the plate in the seventh, there was no doubt what was about to happen. Rays reliever Hunter Wood battled during an eight-pitch at-bat, but Ohtani eventually earned the victory with a line-drive single that dropped neatly into shallow center field.

Who knew we'd see two cycles in two days? The last time that happened in MLB was in 1912!

But both of the last two have ties to the O.C.:

Not only did Shohei accomplish this on Thursday, but in Friday night's Indians-Tigers game at Comerica Park, Cleveland DH (and Newport Beach native/Marina High grad) Jake Bauers did it, too, leading the Tribe to a 13-4 win.

Congratulations!

Also, Rojo Chingon hit the 100th home run of his career in the Dodgers' 5-3 win over the Cubs at Dodger Stadium.
