Gotta get this one underway!

This is an annual thread to track and celebrate individual feats (major personal milestones), major league records, or unique team accomplishments around MLB, this time during the 2020 season.

As a rule I have not in past years included individuals who set team records only, in this thread, unless it was something of monumental proportions. Traditionally, they've been included in that team's particular thread, if one exists.

So, please provide a link whenever possible. Thanks!

Glad we have this one up now. I wanted to post congratulations to our new skipper Jayce Tingler on his first managerial win! Smile He had to wait a long time for it after being hired last fall - but on July 24 my Padres beat the Diamondbacks 7-2 in their season opener at Petco Park for win #1!

Article from padres.com

Congratulations to Padres rookie Edward Olivares who banged out his first major league hit in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Diamondbacks! It was a double off a pretty good pitcher, Robby Ray - article from padres.com

Padres rookie infielder Jake Cronenworth had an exciting first major league hit in Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks at Petco Park. It was also his first major league at bat. He came to the plate with two outs in the bottom of the ninth with my Padres trailing 4-2 and doubled to right to also record his first major league RBI. Padres still lost but that is pretty good drama for your first time up.

Congratulations!

Jake Cronenworth hit his first major league home run in the Padres' loss to the Dodgers last night at Petco Park!

Congratulations!

Left unspoken since the Dodgers' loss to the Padres two days ago at Dodger Stadium is the fact that Rojo Chingon notched his 1000th career hit---a double in the second inning off G-Rich, who started the game for San Diego.

Congratulations!

Also not to be overlooked (from last week) was Angels right fielder Jo Adell's first major league hit, in his first major league at-bat. Adell legged out an infield single off the Mariners' Justin Dunn on August 4. The milestone was recorded in the first inning of Anaheim's 5-3 win over Seattle at T-Mobile Park.

Congratulations to Dodgers rookie catcher Keibert Ruiz! In one swing against the Angels this afternoon in Anaheim, he managed to record his first major league hit, home run and RBI! The milestone(s) were achieved in his first major league at-bat, leading off the third inning as he faced starting pitcher Julio Teheran.

This is kind of embarrassing for me! After all the discussion we had about El Niño and the controversy with his grand slam I realized I never did post it in this thread. Lol

So congratulations, as the grand slam hit last Monday in Globe Life Park off Rangers reliever Juan Nicasio was the first one of his career. He will never forget it for more reasons than that! Smile

lol! I didn't know if it was but since he was so good last year I thought he may have already had a grand slam. Tip of the cap from a Dodger fan to El Niño!

Impressive! Former CIF star and Harvard-Westlake alum Lucas Giolito just threw the first no-hitter of the season in MLB. The White Sox RHP dominated the Pirates in a 4-0 win at Guaranteed Rate Field, in which only a fourth-inning walk stood between Giolito and a perfect game. And get this...he Ked 13. The feat was accomplished with 101 pitches.

Congratulations to Angels left fielder Jo Adell! He hit his first career home run in Saturday's game when Anaheim beat Oakland at home. It came off opposing pitcher Justus Sheffield in the second inning. Here's the link

Good to see Jo Adell come through since he's had a rough time of it.

Congratulations to our Dodgers on their 11,000th!

Congratulations to the kid, CK! At age 32, he became the third youngest pitcher in major league history to record 2500 strikeouts, which he did on Thursday night in the Dodgers' win over the Diamondbacks.

Angels outfielder Mike Trout has hit his 300th career home run and the sports media is having a field day with the headlines! It wasn't just his 300th home run but also how he passed former Angel Tim Salmon as the player with most home runs in an Angels uniform, who hit 299. The home run was hit in the third inning off a fastball from Houston's pitcher Brandon Bielak. The Angels won the game, 10-9. The game was played at the Big A so it was kind of sad that fans couldn't be there for it. I know for sure my brothers would have both had tickets for the entire series this weekend.

I think it is cool to see how much Trout & Salmon both respect each other, as the article says,

Quote:
Trout's record-setting blast came in his 10th season with the Angels and in his 1,235th game. Salmon played 14 seasons and 1,672 games with the Halos. In a cool moment, Salmon appeared in a segment on Fox Sports West in the fourth inning to congratulate Trout on-air. The two have grown close due to Salmon's role as an analyst, and Salmon called it an honor to be passed by a player as good as Trout. And Trout gestured to Salmon, who was in the concourse, after the homer.

Congratulations to Mr. Trout! Here's the link to the milestone.

Oh, I've seen those headlines. Big fish, etc.

Congratulations, Mike Trout.

More Padres Power!

Rookie catcher Luis Campusano homered in the eighth inning of the Padres game in Oakland on Friday night. It was his first major league at bat, first hit and of course first home run. My Padres won, 7-0!

Congratulations to the kid! Article from padres.com

Congratulations! Our rookie outfielder Jorge Oña hit his first major league home run which was also his first major league hit, in my Padres' win last night at Petco Park. It came off S.F. pitcher Drew Smyly in the 4th inning - link from padres.com

Congratulations to Cubs rookie RHP Alec Mills, who pitched a no hitter over the Brewers yesterday at Miller Park! Chicago scorched Milwaukee, 12-0, as Mills struck out five and walked three over 114 pitches. It was the 16th no-hitter in Cubs franchise history

Also, per the linked article:

Quote:
Immediately after the game, Mills had not had a chance yet to check his phone. The pitcher laughed and said that veteran second baseman Jason Kipnis told him he actually took a video of all the messages and calls coming in when the players went into the clubhouse.

Mills said his first order of business would be to call his wife, and then his parents.

It may be less celebrated due to the controversies surrounding PED use, but Ryan Braun hit his 350th career home run yesterday. Congratulations, I guess.

Dodgers rookie outfielder Zach McKinstry doubled in the third inning of yesterday's Dodgers' loss in Colorado for his first major league hit. The milestone ball was served up by Rockies starting pitcher Tony Senzatela.

Congratulations, Zach!

Yes, congratulations to Zach, and also to Jared Walsh, Angels first baseman, for hitting his first grand slam of his career. It was in yesterday's Angels win over the Rangers at Angel Stadium (their last home game this year). Walsh homered off Kyle Gibson in the fourth inning. He has been really hot all month long but it's nice to see he hit his first grand slam in their last home game. Though it probably doesn't mean much with no fans there. Sad

Congratulations to Cardinals catcher Yadi Molina, who recorded his 2000th career hit tonight as St. Louis beat Milwaukee, 4-2, at Busch Stadium. The milestone hit came in the form of a single in the seventh inning off Brewers pitcher Justin Topa.

Super player, one of the best catchers I have seen, and clearly he can hit unlike some of the others. Congratulations.

Although I say this with some trepidation, congratulations to Nationals left fielder Juan Soto, who won the NL batting title with a .351 BA. Additionally, at age 21, Soto became the youngest player to do so. But remember, in a regular season, this would be equivalent to leading the league in batting at the end of May.

Congratulations as well to Angels prospects Jahmai Jones (2B) and Elliot Soto (SS), who both recorded their first major league hits during Saturday's loss to the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Jones and Soto both singled and notched the milestones back-to-back, off Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin in the third inning. This was particularly noteworthy for Soto, who has played ten seasons in the minor leagues.
