Phil Niekro has passed away at age 81. The famed knuckleballer passed away in his sleep last night. May he rest in peace. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. One of the first pitchers I remember pitching against the Padres from their early days. He was a great one. Rest in peace. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

The Hall of Fame home page had a good article about him. I will always think of him managing the Colorado Silver Sox after his retirement from MLB. Here's the link. |
