May you rest in peace, Tommy Lasorda!
Yes, I've been gone a few days and have a lot to say. As everyone knows this was just one in multiple events that captured my attention over the past week. 2020 is not over, it's just been given an extension. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Thank goodness you are back and posting! My condolences to my Dodger fan friends. Tommy was a very good ambassador for the game as you well know. He was bigger than just the Dodgers but he will always be most associated with the Dodgers. You lost an icon. A lot of Padres fans did not like him but they respected him. And his run ins with some players were just epic. A big loss for baseball. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

I'm so sad. I can remember him in his early managing days when I was a little girl. I know it wasn't completely unexpected when you think about his age and how much he slowed down over the last few years. But it's just one of those days I didn't feel like I was ready for. I'm so happy he did get to see them win a championship one last time! Rest in peace! |

Did you Dodger ladies see the Union Tribune column about him where Padres of the 1980s shared their memories? Tommy seems like he is getting a lot of respect even here. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Yes! Thank you. That story about the candles sounds just like Tommy!
I lost track of how many articles called him "colorful." |
