Rob Manfred says that spring training will start on time, and has advised teams to be prepared for a 162-game schedule.

I would not expect the commissioner to be so certain not just with Arizona, but Florida is not exactly a safe spot, either. I would hope maybe we'll be seeing case numbers go down by a couple of months from now and it does help more people are getting the vaccine now, but you never know until we get closer. I am super excited about the coming season, but I will not hold my breath. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

I agree that it would be risky without Arizona making some changes first. They need the tourist dollars they rely on at that time of year but they've got to show they can make it safe to attend a game even if it's just a practice game, lol. I'd be very careful and I'm not making any plans until I hear more. We won't know until some time has passed. |
