Infielder Neil Walker has announced his retirement from a 12-year career in Major League Baseball. Over the course of that time, Walker played for the Pirates, Mets, Yankees, Brewers, Marlins and Phillies.
Earlier, Yankees outfielder Jay Bruce had already given notice that he planned to do the same. Bruce hung up his cleats after 13 full seasons, played mostly in Cincinnati (2008-16), followed by stints with the Mets, Indians, Mariners, Phillies and Yankees. He was a first-round draft choice of the Reds in 2005, and hit .244 with 319 home runs, 951 RBI over the course of his career.
Congratulations to both men. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. If the Yankees are the most successful team in baseball history, the Dodgers are the most essential. Their legacy is unique."
