Congratulations to our rookie shortstop C.J. Abrams! He got his first major league hit on Saturday as my Padres beat the Diamondbacks, 5-2, at Chase Field. It was a single in the 9th inning off former Padres reliever Mark Melancon, now playing for the Dbacks. C.J. has been knocking on the door all through spring training to make the regular season roster and so I am happy for him. Article from padres.com

Congratulations to Hunter Greene! The Reds rookie RHP made his major league debut in Atlanta yesterday, against the world champion Braves, no less, and recorded his first major league win as Cincinnati prevailed, 6-3.

The native Angeleno threw 92 pitches over five innings and dazzled by hitting triple digits 20 times in the outing.

Of note is the fact that he'll be facing his hometown team in his second start, next Saturday at Dodger Stadium.

How about Steven Kwan! You have to give it up to him even though he is a Norcal guy! Smile

Congratulations to our rookie shortstop C.J. Abrams! He hit his first home run last night at our home opener at Petco Park, as the Padres beat the Braves, 12-1. It was his first at-bat in the first inning, off Charlie Morton. A couple of things to say about this that were pretty cool, were that Abrams grew up a Braves fan in Atlanta. He also became "the first player to hit his first career home run in his first at-bat at Petco Park during the team’s home opener." Lol. That's according to the article - link from padres.com

Congratulations to MacKenzie Gore! Our Padres rookie RHP threw 5 shutout innings against the Reds at Petco Park yesterday, and my boys won, 6-0.

Okay, so it's a combined no-hitter. And I'm not a real big fan of them. But it should be duly noted, and congratulations extended, as the Mets have recorded the first no-no of the '22 season, with a superb effort by starting pitcher Tylor Megill (five innings) against the Phillies, followed by three relievers--Drew Smith, Joely Rodríguez, Seth Lugo and Edwin Díaz--to win the game, 3-0, at Citifield. And it is, of course, only the second no-hitter in Mets history.

Congratulations to Asterisks skipper Dusty Baker--despite the team he manages--who notched his 2000th career victory yesterday!

Love ya, Dusty!

What a night at Target Field--our O.C. kid Royce Lewis, just called up by the Twins, notched his first major league hit, and Jose Miranda clobbered his first major league home run. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Royce.

And now congratulations to rookie LHP Reid Detmers, who threw a no hitter for the Angels tonight at Angel Stadium! Only his 11th career start. His team gave him lots of run support and they won, 12-0. Here's the link.

We were watching Padres-Cubs at home, then when I heard about this we flipped back and forth to see how it was going. Congratulations to this young man! The headline on mlb.com was, "Reid all about it."

Also Shohei finally checked one more off his list of accomplishments in his MLB career by hitting his first grand slam home run on Monday.

It's been quite a couple of days, so congratulations to both Angels. Also, Brewers Christian Yelich hit for the third cycle of his career today! What's more remarkable is the fact that all three have been at the expense of the Reds!

Ohtani-san has added another one to his list of milestones. He hit his 100th career home run yesterday in Oakland, and the Angels won, 9-1. He is now the third Japanese-American player to reach this mark. The home run came off Athletics pitcher Adam Oller in the 5th inning. Congratulations!

He continues to dazzle! Shoh-time is so good for baseball.

Also, Royce Lewis hit his first major league home run, so congratulations to Royce!

I guess someone should post that Phillies catcher Garrett Stubbs hit his first major league home run yesterday, even though it was against our Dodgers! It's still cool to see a TP grad & USC alum getting a milestone. He hit it off El Gato pitching for the Dodgers, in the 6th inning of the game played at Citizens Bank Park.

Just as I am posting here, I have the Pirates-Rockies game on and Cal Mitchell out of RB, just called up last night, got his first major league hit and RBI! I get excited about that just as much as I do about Garrett Stubbs helping to beat the Dodgers. Twisted Evil Congratulations to the kids!

Yay, and just in time for the Pirates' west coast trip too! There'll be plenty of chances for them to see him at Petco Park and Dodger Stadium over the next week. Congratulations!

Got to give him credit. It was also the first cycle in the history of Petco Park. Congratulations.

The third cycle in MLB this month was hit for last night by Orioles centerfielder Austin Hays at Camden Yards, and by the sixth inning, no less, as Baltimore secured a rain-shortened 7-0 win over the Nationals. Congratulations! Here are the details.
