Well, the magic number remains the same, and the Mets took the series in part thanks to a very sloppy rubber game played by the Dodgers yesterday. They won the season series, 4-3. Now will there be another one played in October?

Dodgers back home tonight to face the Padres.

Two games in, and the teams have traded blowouts. On Friday night, San Diego won, 7-1, followed by L.A.'s 12-1 drubbing on Saturday.

Rubber game tomorrow!

Yes, and on Sunday night baseball. It's a good thing they scheduled it that way because I can't imagine how hot it will be at 1 p.m. which is a regular Sunday game start time!

We were at last night's massacre and it was good to see our guys end their 3 game losing streak. El Culichi looked untouchable just like Yu did for the Padres, the night before that.

I know, right! Well, the Dodgers picked up the pace late in the game even though the Padres cut a 5-1 lead to 5-4, thanks to Trayce Thompson! Final score, Dodgers 9, Padres 4, and the magic number is down to nine.

Finishing up a homestand, the Dodgers took the series from the Jints, and now head to San Diego with their magic number at six.

Well, gee. After planning most of the day about what to do in event of a rainout, it actually got played. My only problem was the final results, Padres 5, Dodgers 4.

Dodgers win under a full moon on Saturday night, and the rubber game is now underway.

With a big win today, 11-2, at Petco Park I believe that's 7 straight series the Dodgers have won from the Padres going back to last season. I know our resident Padres fan isn't going to like that, but for us I think the best kind of challenge is when you can keep beating your second place team all the time, the one that has been chasing you. In the middle of the season they started putting a lot of distance in the standings between the Padres in second place. I don't want to sound mean but the more wins they have like this where they are very dominating, the more they are getting ready for October. The magic number is down to 2 now. Dodgers left San Diego and made it to Phoenix for the series that starts tomorrow against the Diamondbacks.

I know, I probably should not post about the Dodgers since it has been agonizing for me all season long, but evidently MLB has admitted a mistake and the Dodgers have not actually clinched a playoff spot yet.

Another well played series for your team with a lot lacking from my guys - but we still have 3 left the last week of September so maybe that can be a "moral victory" series for S.D. Laughing

LOL! I found out about that later.

The magic number is now down to one. And CK will take the mound tomorrow.

For the first time all season, I fell asleep last night not knowing if the Dodgers had won or lost a game (they lost in extras). This game was pretty much a try-out for the postseason with giving a lot of guys playing time, so I'm not that disappointed.

Off today to travel to San Francisco, then a weekend series with the Water Hoarders begins tomorrow night!

Since I last posted, the Dodgers won the series finale in San Francisco for the sweep, notching their 101st win of 2022, then returned home and, for good measure, recorded #102 with CK on the mound over the Diamondbacks.

Two losses in a row for the Dodgers; is it time to panic?

They split the day-night doubleheader on Tuesday, then lost yesterday. And yes, this is a five-game series against the Diamondbacks, with the finale being played today.

Well, the Dodgers won their series finale against the Diamondbacks in exciting fashion, then welcomed the Cardinals in with much fanfare and Albert on the verge of making history.

There's a case to be made for just enjoying the moment and overlooking the Dodgers' 11-0 loss. But there's still a bit of concern that they've been in a scoring slump all week long.
