Happening at Chavez Ravine, Los Angeles tomorrow. Well, what can we say? The Dodgers will need to be all business, play smooth and fundamental baseball, while not taking their eyes off what's been their goal all season long. They need to replicate what worked for them throughout the regular season, even though the Padres are playing better now. They need to set the tone early.

What they do not need to do is be the 1988 Mets.

Mike Clevinger gets the start for my boys. Go Padres!

So was I--very much so--but the Dodgers did exactly what I wanted them to do, establish the tone early. Julio's fine start combined with excellent bullpen management = 5-3 win. I had feared the Padres might do what they did to the Mets in their first game, and attack early. Getting out of L.A. with only one win is not acceptable. They must go up 2-0 tonight, which will be a tall order given Yu is on the mound for San Diego! But our team counters with CK.

These two games have had me on the edge of my seat! And the second one isn't even over yet! Clayton not at his best tonight but then neither was Yu. Both teams getting good hitting, good defense in a lot of cases and also a couple of big errors by infielders.

Sorry for my absence the last couple of days but I did want to weigh in. I was hoping and praying my guys would get at least 1 win in L.A. and they did that. I was not sure which game it would be in, but they did just enough to get the W tonight. Neither starting pitcher had the kind of performance we would expect from them. I am just exhaling now and getting ready for Friday when Petco Park will host its first playoff game in 16 years!

More than anything else, the inability to score with RISP is what killed the Dodgers. More than Trea's error, more than Blake giving up the late home run, more than anything Manny could do.

Game 3 tomorrow night, from Petco Park. I will not be in attendance due to my honoring a volunteer commitment I made several weeks ago.

I admire your dedication in a time of challenge, lol.

On a blog I was posting on, all they were talking about was what happened to the goose!

PETA followed up on that, I saw.

Petco Park is going to be rocking hard tonight!

This is not the news you Dodger ladies wanted to hear, I know. My boys are 1 win away from a trip to the NLCS for the first time since 1998! We will be heading downtown early today. This has been so exciting! Blake Snell even pitched up to expectations last night! Now Joe is going to have to pitch the game of his life a second time in the same week!

You might be celebrating tonight, unless our guys can find their hitting strokes that brought them so many wins during the season. The worst nightmare is having the 1-2-3 guys go cold in the first round of the playoffs after a long layover. I'm not sure what to think.

Some people have written their obituary already. Padres did a great job last night. I've said all along, repeatedly, that 111 wins in the regular season means nothing, and that can be confirmed in multiple threads. So yes, this season will be a disappointment if the Dodgers fail to come back and then advance.

Congratulations to my Padres! I think I'm going to live on this high all weekend! They did it! Moving on to the NLCS after winning 5-3!
