The Hall of Fame ballot was released in November, and later this month, the results of the voting will be released and inductees of the Class of 2023 will be announced.

Frankly, I'm not a very strong supporter of many who are eligible. I think the standards have been relaxed over the years and I'm still of the belief that the room should be a very small one.

The results are going to be announced, tomorrow. I guess we'll have something else to talk about then.

Scott Rolen who made his name at third base for the Cardinals, has been elected to the Hall as of today. I was kind of surprised. Still congratulations are in order. Rockies slugger Todd Helton just barely missed.

Results of voting from mlb.com

A few comments:

I think Scott Rolen should be in the Hall of the Very Good. Yes, congratulations are in order, but how are they so inconsistent? I don't want to hear about WAR as the be-all and end-all of determining factors.

Next--Helton's case is an intriguing one. Yes, the "Coors Field factor" should be in consideration, but I might want to study his numbers more in-depth before making a determination. At first glance, he seems more deserving overall than Rolen. And I'm going to guess that the CFF may have been considered in terms of him not reaching the 500 HR plateau. But I'll formulate a more definite opinion at a later time. Still, a .316 lifetime BA is pretty impressive.

Last--notice the guys who got zero votes? Can't say they are deserving of Hall status, though some of them were very good in their day, too. (Think Jered, Dre).

And who the heck cast the lone vote for Mike Napoli? Question

J.J. Hardy? I don't even remember what teams he played for, LOL.
