That's a 10-game winning streak they've got now. |

Make it 11!
Just when you think it doesn't get better, the Dodgers sweep the Brewers.
Last night, CK looked good again in his second start off the IL. Tonight, Lance Lynn dominated and it took an eighth inning home run--off the bat of Austin Barnes, of all people!--to score the only run of the game. Dodgers won, 1-0.
Marlins are in next! _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. If the Yankees are the most successful team in baseball history, the Dodgers are the most essential. Their legacy is unique."

Hey! I wanted to catch up yesterday while I had a lot of time indoors. Unfortunately I slept a good deal of the day! I felt like it was too dreary to stay awake. It was just unusual for August.
The Dodgers took two of three from the Marlins, including a doubleheader with twins scores of 3-1 on Saturday. They now travel to Cleveland and Boston. Pretty good timing, I'd say, because that parking lot at Chavez Ravine will need to be dried out! _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. My boys are out of the division race, so I will root for the Dodgers against the wild card teams ahead of us that we need to have lose. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Well, thanks.
Last night's game was a disaster in the making that was reminiscent of the Reds series in Cincinnati back in June. Bullpen takes over and promptly surrenders a lead that the Dodgers had maintained throughout the game.
@*#! Second game of the series is underway now, but, in a rain delay.
EDIT: Game was finally called; Dodgers have a 3-1 lead when they resume play tomorrow morning as part of a sort-of-doubleheader. We're talking Baseball at Breakfast, 9 a.m. PDT. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Following completion of their suspended game (a win), the Dodgers continued to prevail in the second game to take the series in Cleveland.
Now, on to Boston, and Mookie's return to Fenway. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. If the Yankees are the most successful team in baseball history, the Dodgers are the most essential. Their legacy is unique."

Two games played at Fenway Park this weekend, a win for each team, and the rubber game will be Baseball at Breakfast...again! _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. And with the Dodgers winning the rubber game today, they'll return home for a big homestand this week, including under Thursday's full moon to close out the month of the blue moon! _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Keep it going, guys--with a 7-4 win over Zac Gallen and the Diamondbacks, the team is continuing its roll through August. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Dodgers beat the Diamondbacks, 9-1; CK notched his 209th career win, tied with Don Drysdale for second place on the all-time Dodgers list; CT3 was 3-for-3, on his 33rd birthday, no less! _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. The two best teams in the National League met for the first time in several months, beginning a four-game set last night at Dodger Stadium.
While the Braves won, 8-7, the Dodgers did finish off the month of August with a 24-5 record. Flipping over to September, let's see how this month goes. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. My favorite pitcher named Max in the majors--Fried--took the mound for the Braves last night and thoroughly handled my Dodgers. Newly-acquired Kolten Wong's three-run homer provided the only scoring of the game for L.A., who lost, 6-3. El Culichi looked off again, and I'm concerned about him and how effective he might be next month when veteran leadership amongst our rotation would provide a huge boost in the postseason. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Rough weekend at the Ravine! Team is traveling to the East Coast today minus El Culichi. I hope Walker is back and available to pitch at this level soon! He had a good start at OKC yesterday. |

Yes, a rough one, indeed. The only real bright spots were Emmet Sheehan and Bobby Miller's starts. The kids lead, once again. The team may need to rely on them more and more as we get closer to the postseason. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. And now, the Dodgers have dropped the first game of this road trip to the Marlins. News gets worse every day--CK's velocity is down, Doc says he wants to pitch anyway, and this team is very pitching-thin.
I anticipate a bounceback win today. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. If the Yankees are the most successful team in baseball history, the Dodgers are the most essential. Their legacy is unique."

I don't want Walker to do anything to put his future health in danger. But we sure could use him once he's built up again. This points the finger back at Andrew Friedman again though, because most folks think he didn't do enough to address our pitching holes at the trade deadline. |

What a boost for him to dominate like that! But now, we get the next dose of bad news, that Walker won't pitch this year. They're going to have to rely on the kids even as risky as that is! Unless Lance Lynn finds his groove again - this is going to be rough.
J.D. is being activated tonight, though, and Michael Busch will be optioned. |

Well, not too bad a weekend in D.C.--minus the numerous rain delays, that is! The Dodgers came within a blown save of sweeping the series, but simply winning the series will have to be good enough at this point. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Return to the Ravine:
Score one for Cathy's boys last night on a lead blown late by the Dodgers, 11-8.
I'll be heading up for my next game on Wednesday! _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. If the Yankees are the most successful team in baseball history, the Dodgers are the most essential. Their legacy is unique."

It looks like I went to the right game! You and Cathy picked the wrong ones.
The Padres win this series - first series they've beat the Dodgers since that big one last October. I'm happy I was able to go to Tuesday's game. |

And the Dodgers won the first game of the series, 6-3, behind Bobby Ice.

So the Dodgers swept the series in Seattle and are now in "resting player" mode having clinched the division on Saturday.
Tonight, they open a series at home against the Tigers. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. If the Yankees are the most successful team in baseball history, the Dodgers are the most essential. Their legacy is unique."

Well, I feel like I'm so far behind!
The Dodgers won the series from the Tigers and it was great to see Gibby back in the house again.
Jints in town for four starting tonight! They are fighting for their wild card lives and are barely playing .500 baseball. Padres fans will be rooting for us! _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game.
