I'm starting this thread to track the wild card races over the last six-plus weeks of the season.

I hope Arizona recovers to get one of those spots. Maybe I should be careful what I wish for, lol. But I just don't want S.F. in there.

I am happy there are still a few weeks left because the only shot my boys have is via the wild card, which is still not very likely, but possible.

At this point, realistically, it looks like Philly is still in the lead for the NL wild card, with the second one being eyed by S.F., Arizona, Cincinnati, Chicago and Florida. Only the Brewers, with a 4.5 game lead in the NL Central, can be considered vulnerable for the division.

Ever since the Angels have been out of it, most fans have thought it would be down to the Rangers and Asterisks* for the AL West title and maybe the Mariners for the wild card. At the moment the Ms are in first place but those 3 teams are all within 1 game of each other. The other AL wild card team will likely be the Rays who are 2.5 games behind the Orioles in the East. The AL Central is a joke.

If you look at the NL, the West and East are pretty much sealed up. Phillies are leading the wild card race and the other 3 teams with over 70 wins now in the running for the second WC are still the Cubs, Reds, Diamondbacks and Jints. I think that's the only real race left unless the Cubs (3 games out) somehow overtake the Brewers for the NL Central, and then the Brewers would be a WC contender. So some of the suspense has thinned out about the division winners, and there is still a lot of competition for the wild card teams. That's going to be the excitement that's left for the month of September.

It's starting to look more and more like Tampa Bay and Toronto may be the two AL wild card teams. The AL East is head and shoulders above the other two divisions.

This NL wild card race is getting interesting! Padres have won 8 straight and the Reds and Diamondbacks both lost tonight.

What a ride this week has been! Only 8 days left until the end of the season so in order to have any chance, we have to hope this winning streak continues and other teams lose at the same time. At least they are making it interesting instead of continuing to roll over!

The Cubs seem to be fading.

My prediction is the Marlins get that last spot.
