I'm taking a few hours off from work this morning to catch the Dodgers' 9 A.M. start against Florida, wrapping up a four-game set before they head home to take on the Reds and Cardinals.

So, in less than an hour, I'll be enjoying (hopefully) watching Derek Lowe and the rest of the Bums take on the Marlins while chowing down on chilaquiles (and not Dodger Dogs!). Then I'll work for only three hours, followed by watching Justin's game at San Diego HS later this afternoon. My friend and I are taking her mother out for Mexican Mothers' Day this evening, and I won't have to miss much baseball at all, since the latest game on the MLB slate starts at 5:30 PT this afternoon.

But, this is the earliest game start I can remember the Dodgers ever having. So bring it on, guys, and make it worth my scheduled leave time.

Just lost in the bottom of the ninth; the Dodgers and Marlins split the four-game series. Derek Lowe and Sergio Mitre matched each other with shutouts into the ninth today. Lowe stayed in and gave it up, losing despite a great effort. But, that's baseball.

Can't say I wasted time staying home for this; just glad I got to see a great pitching duel even in spite of ending up on the wrong end.

And I was so looking forward to celebrating a win, appropriately, with fish tacos from Rubio's!

Good catch, Amy. I know how easy it is for these East Coasters to forget about us out here. I remember how when I was visiting on the East Coast how I automatically subtracted three hours for everything I saw advertised as "Eastern Standard Time", and then later realized I was planning three hours early on everything.

Meanwhile, while I was posting about "breakfast and baseball", I received the FL feed on my TV and their announcers were advertising "Have lunch with the Marlins today."

DUH............LOL I read it but the 9am start just jogged me to think they were in LA for some reason, although you said "before they head home"...being 3 hours ahead it is hard to think of baseball at 9am. I guess our afternon starts at 1:05 are 10:05, huh? I get it

Yes! Baseball for breakfast is over at lunch, just past noon here on the West Coast. Fish tacos were most definitely on the menu! (Sorry, Frodio!)

So last time it was fish tacos, this time beer for breakfast.

Seriously, with the Dodgers on the road playing the Brewers in Milwaukee, I did not take time off today as I sometimes do for these mid-week morning starts that pop up a handful of times on the schedule each year.

I really needed to get the hours in this week, so I sacrificed baseball with breakfast and in the spirit of things, wore my #58 warm-up replica to work today, knowing Chad was getting the start for the Bums. Unfortunately, the signal for the Dodgers' radio station is very weak and I couldn't pull it in inside the building I work in, so I was unable to listen to the play-by-play.

Instead, I tuned in to the Mighty XX, which was broadcasting the Cubs-Padres game almost simultaneously (with a slightly later start), and just listened for between-inning updates on the Dodgers-Brewers. Chad cruised into the eighth inning with a shutout, and I called Harpo for an update, when I learned a call was being made--to the bullpen after Jason Kendall tripled. (Meanwhile, the Cubs were busy beating the Padres...)

Well, talk about phone calls. Quite interestingly, I was handed a job assignment almost at that exact moment that involved contacting one of our clients in Columbus, Ohio...located on Billingsley Road! (Note that Chad is also from the Buckeye State...hmmm?)

Eerie, eerie...but it was a big 7-2 win for the Dodgers, taking the series at Miller Park, with the game over by lunchtime. Through Tuesday, they had lost five straight and broke that streak with a comeback win on Wednesday, and head into interleague play this weekend with a two-game winning streak.

Let's toast to that...one Miller Lite, please!

Baseball at breakfast was very nice today!

With a 7-4 win, the Dodgers sealed a sweep of the Reds in Great American Ballpark. I think we're 8-1 against Cincinnati this year. We need to get them on our schedule more often.

Dodger fans (on the West Coast) get baseball at breakfast two times over the span of four days.

It was a 10 a.m. start on Thursday in Philadelphia for the road team's first "early game" of the year; unfortunately, I was working and only got to see a couple of middle innings (close to lunchtime), and the Dodgers ended up winning.

This Sunday, another 10 a.m. start is on the schedule, this one in Florida, but I'll be in church at that time. Perhaps a post-service desayuno is in order, and I'm sure I can make it home by the third inning. Now that I think about it, maybe this is the perfect time for Sunday brunch!

Anyone for mimosa? Along with fish tacos? (Sorry, Frodio!)

Well, it looks like I got my own answer!

Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw, by the way, lost his no-hitter in the eighth inning and would have been the youngest Dodger pitcher to throw one, had he been able to finish. This victory had to really boost his confidence as he's been awesome at home this year, but pretty bad on the road.

Dodgers 12, Marlins 5, fish tacos all around, and they're 2-0 at desayuno this year. I'll take mine with lime and drowned in Rubio's salsa. Sweet!

Well that wasn't exactly the way to get the season started, losing to the Pirates, but IMO I think tihs is what happens when you put a #4 starter on the mound in your season opener. Dodgers lost 11-5.
