After being blown out the previous night, the Dodgers returned the favor and then said goodbye to the Brewers for the year, beating them, 8-1.

Bad news--CK on the DL with back strain...unsure how long, but he's been the backbone of this team.

Baseball at Breakfast in Washington yesterday yielded an 8-4 win for the Dodgers!

Funny to say but both of our teams had Baseball at Breakfast in Washington D.C. in the same week, and both teams won those games. Maybe those Nationals just do not do well in the daytime against Socal teams. Lol

All eyes on Baseball at Breakfast today from Miami...where the Marlins are hosting the Jints in the rubber game of their series. Miami's win yesterday, combined with the Dodgers' home win over Philadelphia, allowed L.A. to catch S.F. for a first place tie in the NL West standings.

Baseball at Breakfast yesterday was not very digestible for us! Steven Matz had a no hitter going against my Padres into the eighth before we lost 5-1. He did pitch a great game though.

Believe it or not that is not our last BatB game this year! We have one more the last Sunday in the month, in Miami.

Baseball at Breakfast for two consecutive days in Cincinnati!

Dodgers won yesterday, 5-0, behind Julio Urias.

And...the Dodgers split the four-game set with an assault on Reds pitching today, 17-9.

Our very last Baseball at Breakfast this season was the game played last Sunday in Miami. At least my boys went out with fish tacos! - and beat the Marlins, 3-1. So glad the East Coast travel is over for this year.

And Sunday's series finale, which the Dodgers lost, marks the last Baseball at Breakfast game of the year!

I had to dig this one up so I could be the first to post in it this year! Laughing

Fortunately my Padres ended their road trip with a win, 5-3, in Washington on Sunday morning, and avoided a sweep. It was good to see Chase d'Arnaud have a good game, playing super defense at shortstop and he hit a 2 run single, and Ryan Schimpf also homered.

Baseball at Breakfast for my Dodgers at Busch Stadium today!

The bad news is that they lost, 2-0, in another good pitching duel. Adam Wainwright took the mound for St. Louis and outpitched Brandon McCarthy, who suffered a tough loss for L.A.

The good news is I was working and didn't see any of it. Smile

Well, the Dodgers are 0-2 in Baseball at Breakfast this year and will have another shot on Sunday.

They lost to Cleveland yesterday, 12-5.

Oops! Forgot to bump this one for Sunday's game which closed out the road trip.

After two losses in Chicago, my boys were able to get a win on getaway day today at Wrigley Field, 3-2. If they had been swept in the middle of the Anthony Rizzo controversy, I would have been simmering. Yes, even with a team that lingers around last place I still want my players protected! I should have had a Chicago style pizza for breakfast, Lol.

Baseball at Breakfast yesterday in Philadelphia did not go so well - Trevor was shaky and my Padres lost, 7-1. The Phillies hit 6 home runs in that game, though the Padres did take the series. Cheesesteak burritos - Raul and I joked about that. Laughing

Hello from the city by the bay!

As our plane touched down on the east side of the bay on Sunday morning, the Dodgers-Marlins game was about to get underway in Miami. So, fish tacos for breakfast on a Sunday morning seemed entirely appropriate!

The Dodgers won and capped a sweep. Just rolling along!

Baseball at breakfast was very unappetizing for me yesterday! The Pirates won in extra innings in PNC Park, to take our series.

I see where my last Baseball at Breakfast entry was not a good report - well yesterday's loss has eclipsed that. No Skyline chili for breakfast! My boys lost, 10-3, in their last game in Cincinnati before coming back west, and it was bad enough before the big blow which was a grand slam by Scooter Gennett.

Our All Star pitcher Brad Hand was roughed up and his scoreless streak (24 innings) is over.

I think we are destined to always lose at Baseball for Breakfast. Sad

The Marlins beat us, 6-2. Giancarlo as always, is just amazing. What a power swing. Glad I at least have him on my Socal rotisserie!

What does one eat for breakfast in our nation's capital?

Whatever it was, something went right with a morning start for a change, and the Dodgers beat the Nationals, 3-2. Rich Hill followed a string of three consecutive great starts by Dodger pitching, and L.A. notched its fourth win in a row.

And 38 was the number of the day--Kenley locked down his 38th save of the season, and Cody hit his 38th home run (a solo shot in the second off Nats starter A.J. Cole). Cody also drove in the Dodgers' second run with a single in the third; Rojo Chingon's sac fly brought Chase in to score in the fifth--and that was the difference in the game. The Dodgers also got a "save" of another kind--Yasiel went all-out with a superb catch in the eighth with the tying run on base to prevent a run-scoring single from sinking.

And the magic number was reduced to five.

Avoiding a four-game sweep by the Phillies, the Dodgers decided to kick things into gear with a come-from-behind, 5-4 win at Citizens Bank Park yesterday.

And they'll be home again at the Ravine tonight...with the magic number reduced to one.

And for this thread's first post in 2018, it was fish tacos all the way yesterday!

The Dodgers came through with a much-needed win, dominating the Marlins, 7-0!

I bet your breakfast tasted really good! Well, we had Baseball at Breakfast yesterday too, and it was very nice. Both of our teams won on the road, a good thing to end our weekends with.

The last time I posted in this thread, the Dodgers enjoyed an East Coast sweep. They did it again, this time in New York.

Today's series finale between the Dodgers and Phillies meant one thing in the big picture--the difference in the season series, which would be a factor should the teams meet in the playoffs.

So the Dodgers promptly lost...of course. At least they didn't go extras to do it, though.

And for the LAST Baseball at Breakfast entry for the Dodgers this season, they accomplished a feat that saved them from great embarrassment, beating the Reds, 8-1, at Great American Ballpark.

The significance of this is such that the Central cellar-dwelling last place Reds came into the game having beaten the Dodgers in six consecutive match-ups--a four-game sweep in L.A. in May, and the first two games of this series. So escaping Cincinnati with a win was big. And doing so this time reminded me of that great rivalry the two teams enjoyed in the 1970s (the old NL West alignment), although this year's Reds team is reminding nobody of the Big Red Machine of that era.

The Reds took an early 1-0 lead with a solo shot by Jose Peraza in the bottom of the first, but their offense wasn't heard from the rest of the game. Joc's fourth inning solo shot off Cincinnati starter Anthony DeSclafani tied the game, but it also jump-started an offensive assault they hadn't enjoyed in a few days. Of the Dodgers' 11 hits, Yas and Yas each contributed three. Although Ross Stripling got the start for L.A., it was known in advance that he would be limited to minimum innings with the bullpen picking up the rest of the way. That plan worked out well, as a combination of six relievers got the job done for an 8-1 final score. Even KJ got into the game to pitch a scoreless ninth (albeit with quite a bit of padding).

And it's on to St. Louis for dinner on Thursday night, with a big four-game set to be played at Busch. Though a reminder may not be needed, the Cardinals did sweep the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium last month, and the two teams are now engaged in a battle for the NL wild card (as a back-up plan to the Dodgers, if they can't claim their division).

Hold onto your hats!
