That's two Baseball at Breakfast entries in the same week, but that's what happens when your team is on an Eastern road trip. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. We had Baseball at Breakfast three times over the past week and I lost my appetite both days! Lol Back to back early starts, on Sunday in Toronto and then on Memorial Day in Yankee Stadium. Then again on Wednesday vs. NYY. I am all for cancelling any more BatB games for my boys this season! _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Hey Linda, looks like I beat you to posting in this thread! Guess who else had baseball at breakfast today, my Padres! They lost 4-3 to the Marlins. That is 5 of 6 our boys had lost since the All Star game. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

No fish tacos for your guys!
Oh, how depressing the Dodgers' bullpen was again, allowing the Phillies to come from behind and win, 7-6. Rotting cheesesteak.
Thankfully, this road trip has come to an end, with its many weather delays, extra inning games, and other challenges.
From dodgers.com:
Quote: | But just when they were finally ready to go home, the Dodgers ran into one last delay.
"Clearly [more than] our plane," (Kike) Hernandez said, referencing the club charter, which was delayed by mechanical issues. "It broke down and it's not here." |
Kike enjoyed a career-high four hits, including two home runs. He and Matt Beaty combined for five runs and five RBI, going 7-for-8 in the game. The Mexicutioner also contributed a ninth inning solo shot, as the Dodgers fell just short of taking the series.
Also from dodgers.com:
Quote: | The Dodgers raised their National League-leading home run total to 167. That ranks second in the Majors overall, trailing only the Twins. Los Angeles is on pace for 271 home runs, which would shatter the franchise record of 235 in 2018. That mark came just one year after hitting a then-record 221 in '17. |

Baseball at Breakfast on Sunday didn't go down particularly well as the Nationals roughed up the Dodgers. And yes, Stephen got the win for D.C. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Breaking news, the Dodgers just lost a series...to the Braves.
They finish the road trip 3-3 and come back for a homestand beginning Tuesday. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. At least we know they're only experimenting with what might work in the bullpen just because they have a huge lead. It was tough for Dustin May today but let's see if he gets better at it in the next 6 weeks. |

Ladies, my breakfast on Wednesday morning was ruined much like yours was last Sunday. Did nobody have Baseball at Breakfast last year? I guess that was because we were mostly playing west coast baseball. It was funny when I found this thread to bump it up, I had neglected to post on Thursday about our game in Pittsburgh. I was home, so I watched it all. Then I noticed there was not a single post in this one all year in 2020. I did not miss Baseball at Breakfast at all. It throws my schedule off sometimes. That was the one we won, 8-3, to get the split in Pittsburgh, and Chris Paddack looked like a decent pitcher again. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Hey, Cath, we'll have a BatB game this Thursday in Pittsburgh and I hope we get the same results your team did.
Our first BatB since 2019 took place on Sunday in Atlanta and it didn't settle too well. That's the one the Dodgers lost, 4-2, which gave the Braves the series. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Twice in a week! The Dodgers won yesterday, finished the road trip with a 4-2 record, and breakfast was easily digestible. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Well, Baseball at Breakfast sure came early for the Fourth of July holiday! The Dodgers won in Washington to complete a four-game sweep, and then moved on to a series in Miami. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Second Baseball at Breakfast in the same week for my Dodgers, and at least they won both!

Due to the game being suspended on Saturday night we got a double dose of breakfast yesterday. The boys finished off the first game, 10-4, then lost in the second one, 8-7 in the bottom of the 9th. That is still a lot of runs to give up over 2 games. Now, it is on to play the Braves - more Baseball at Breakfast on Wednesday! So we will have 2 in a week, also, and another one next Sunday when they play in Miami. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

This schedule is really wrecking my nerves. Not just the schedule but the rescheduling due to delays!
My boys won the first game of their doubleheader for breakfast this morning. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Today's Baseball at Breakfast should have been sent back to the kitchen!
I expected a better game because of Yu pitching, but he gave up 4 runs over 5 innings, and then they piled on when Austin Adams came in in relief. Final score was 9-3. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Well, Cathy, since you updated this thread the last three times it had activity, it's my turn now. The Dodgers had Baseball at Breakfast in Philadelphia on Thursday, having won the first two games of the series. But the Phils were able to avoid being swept, and won, 2-1. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Baseball at Breakfast today, and thankfully I think the Dodgers are down to only one more of these for the years. Today's breakfast was bland! The Cardinals won, 2-1, with an anemic Dodgers offense and another bullpen start for L.A., which held St. Louis pretty much in check. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. And in the final Baseball at Breakfast entry in 2021, the Dodgers won, 7-1, leaving Cincinnati with a series win. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. First entry of the year! And it was almost a perfect breakfast.
Now of course comes the first managerial move by Doc to be bashed this year. Pulling CK from the game after pitching seven perfect innings at 80 pitches? Whether people like it or not, it's understandable. It's his first start of the year following an abbreviated spring training. He's on a one-year contract. He's 34 years old. There are a lot of reasons. But no matter what, there was no perfect game today, only a one-hitter, and that one hit was surrendered by Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia in the eighth inning. Dodgers still won, 7-0, and will reach L.A. for their home opener on a high note. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. What a game that was! It's unfortunate that it had to happen, but I completely understand why he was removed. People need to get that this is his first start of the season and he hasn't had time to get up to full strength. |

That was all anyone seemed to be talking about on the late afternoon sports talk radio! I think I understand better, after all Bob Melvin removed 2 pitchers last weeks who had no hitters going. They did not even have the age or injury history of Clayton Kershaw. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Baseball at Breakfast in Cincinnati for my boys on getaway day today. Padres won, 7-5 with Nick Martinez getting the W and Manny had 4 hits! April is not even over yet and they swept the season series with the Reds! Next stop, Pittsburgh for the weekend and another BatB on Sunday. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Here was our second Baseball at Breakfast game in just 4 days. Super start for Joe Musgrove against his old team and my boys won, 5-2! Our skipper Bob Melvin was ejected late in the game for arguing balls & strikes on a Musgrove pitch. But it was all good once it ended with the win. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

Because of a rainout on Friday, the Dodgers had a scheduled doubleheader at Wrigley Field today, with the first game starting at breakfast (Chicago sausage!) and my appetite was certainly satisfied. CK threw seven innings of shutout baseball and enjoyed plenty of run support as L.A. won, 7-0. Phil Bickford and Reyes Moronta picked up for Clayton in the eighth and ninth. Of course, the Cubs' ineptitude contributed to their loss, too, and they are certainly looking like the "lovable losers" of old.
But, Freddie! Even the broadcast booth took note of the "Freddie" chants and how well they traveled to the Midwest. And our first baseman responded with three doubles in the game, Austin Barnes homered, and everyone in the starting lineup except Mad Max hit. Drew Smily started and took the loss for the Cubs, although reliever Robert Gsellman gave up four runs after Smyly exited in the fifth.
CK is now 4-0 on the season with a 1.80 ERA. And to think, we didn't even know if he would be back with L.A. this season. I'm so glad he is!
This begins a run of 31 games in 30 days for the Dodgers. The second game of the day is coming up in a couple of hours, appropriately at happy hour/dinnertime. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Well, Baseball at Breakfast today wasn't digestible, with the Pirates beating the Dodgers, 5-3, to take the series at PNC Park. Rookie call-up Ryan Pepiot made his major league debut, and while the two teams were knotted, 3-3, late in the game, the Dodgers bullpen imploded for the second time in three days after such an admirable performance over the first month of the season. _________________ "The Dodgers have always occupied an enormous place in the history of the game. Baseball at Breakfast for my Padres in their final game of the series in Atlanta started way early on Sunday morning. 8:30 a.m. and because of it going into extra innings, it stretched into lunch! They made it worth our wait by winning, though. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |

And, our most recent B at B took place yesterday in Philadelphia as my Padres won, 2-0, taking the series before flying west again. _________________ "Baseball is an allegorical play about America, a poetic, complex, and subtle play of courage, fear, good luck, mistakes, patience about fate, and sober self-esteem." - Saul Steinberg |
