Philly cheesesteaks don't make for good breakfast with baseball. Sad

Tell it like it is! We've had a great record for B at B this year. I'm surprised we've had so many of them already since it's only May.

Breakfast at Baseball would have been much sweeter yesterday enjoyed with some St. Louis barbecue, if only my boys had won - but they lost, and moved on to play the Brewers in Milwaukee.

If you like a lot of action with breakfast, yesterday's White Sox-Dodgers game was for you. Personally, I'm glad I was working.

The Dodgers won, 11-9, after trailing early, 4-0.

When they were down 4-0 early I had a sinking feeling like it was going to be the first game of the series all over again.

Funny - but TLR said he would still make that decision. He stands by it because he thought it made sense at the time. I can't blame him, knowing what Mad Max's numbers were like. And if the same people who bash Doc all the time for his decisions that backfire, were to say the same about La Russa, they would probably want him kicked out of the Hall of Fame! Mad

The truth is, nobody has a magic 8 ball and knows what will happen even if you are playing by the numbers.

Well, today was a good day for chili in Cincinnati! Five home runs for L.A. in the Dodgers' 10-5 win, including production from the much-maligned middle of the lineup. CK threw six solid innings for the win, the bullpen gave up four, but by that time the Dodgers had worn out Reds pitching.

Baseball at breakfast, 9 a.m. today from our nation's capital! My Padres won 6-0 and I am finally starting to get some faith in Blake Snell again. His last start was last Monday in San Diego when the Battery Chuckers won 1-0, a solid game he pitched, and then today shut the Nationals out. So maybe things are looking up for him.

Well, we had a B at B game on Sunday morning in Miami, also at 9 a.m., helllllo...I'm barely leaving for church at that time. By the time I got out, the Dodgers had built a nice lead and won, 7-2.

Back for another season!

Baseball at Breakfast, first game of 2023, took place yesterday as the Dodgers faced the Pirates at PNC Park on "getaway day." If there was anything they really needed to "get away" from, it would be the way the Bucs had their way with Dodgers pitchers, both at the plate and on the basepaths!

I had expected better results with El Culichi on the mound, but he was beaten for the second time in as many starts--pounded for six runs over 5- 2/3 innings. We're not used to that. The Dodgers are going to need the version of him we saw in 2021 and '22 as opposed to this and his start last weekend against the Cubs. Oddly, the Dodgers struck first, taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning on David Peralta's single. That was all Pirates starter Mitch Keller allowed, though, over his six innings pitched, while K-ing ten Dodgers.

So the series ended disappointingly as the Dodgers prepared to fly home where they open a series hosting the Cardinals tonight.

Baseball at breakfast on Sunday was earlier than I had ever tasted it! Laughing

Looks like your BatB was no better than ours. My Padres lost 2 games at breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, so the Yankees won the series. At least the Saturday morning game was close, they lost 3-2 in 10 innings. But it was a quality start for Michael Wacha, 7 innings, 2 runs. Sunday the game was a different story. Yanks won that one 10-7, behind Gerrit, of course. They really attacked Yu, 7 runs in 2- 2/3 innings, so there were very inconsistent starts from our guys. Pads battled back but El Niño struck out swinging for the final out.

Way to start out the month. Padres take the series in Miami! Big win today, 10-1. Joey with a super game - no hits into the 6th. El Niño with 3 hits, newcomer Gary Sánchez with 2 hits as well. 7 RBI between them.

Home to play the Cubs for 4 this weekend! It will be a Friday-Monday series. Aside from that we will have plenty of other baseball to track this weekend!

We've got B at B again next Thursday. Both of our teams are getting socked.
